No 45 is No 27 Aaron Neitschke 0 games and 0 goals. Done his knee at the start of the year, this is the 3rd time he's done it. Highly unlikely that he will be on the list next year.

No 43 is No 46 Austin Bradtke 0 Games and 0 Goals. Unfortunately couldn't cut as a ruckman in the VFL so was moved to CHB where he had limited success against Hogan and Buzza at VFL level. It will be touch and go whether or not he will get a contract for next season.

No 30 is No 39 Neville Jetta 5 games 0 goals. Heart and soul of the club. Couldn't break into a strong backline and spent most of the time in the VFL in a position he's made his own the back pocket.

No 29 is No 26 Sam Weideman 5 games 3 goals. Really disappointing season from the Weid. Broke his leg in the pre season and never really recovered Ben Brown has taken his place. Must be on the trade table.

No 28 is No 20 Adam Tomlinson 7 games 0 goals. Switched to CHB after under performing on the wing and it paid dividends as he was a rock down back but unfortunately done his knee which ruined his season.

No 27 is No 2 Nathan Jones 8 games 2 goals. Heat and soul of the club. Got carried to 300 games but it was well deserved. Unfortunately he won't be getting a fairy tale premiership medal but he will always be in our hearts as a fan favorite.

I'll do the rest after the Grand Final. The 22 will be the 22 out on grand final day and 23 will be the medi sub 24 to 26 will be the emergencies which will more likely be Hunt, J.Smith and Melksham.

Rather than carried I would have preferred escorted, supported, or path cleared to 300 games

So out of this list, Jones retires; Weid possibly traded and question marks over Neita, Bradtke, M Brown, Baker, AVB and Chandler.

That would be 8 changes in all. I don't think we've got the trade/draft currency for that many changes. Maybe 4-5 in all I'd reckon. Jones now retired, Jetta may retire as well.  So I'd think that there may be three from the list above to leave the club. Maybe Neita, Bradtke and one of AVB or M Brown (assuming Weid stays). I think Baker and Chandler will have belting pre-seasons coming up,  having experienced this finals series and wanting to be a part of the next one, I can't see we'd trade either.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
