Time NOT up for Yze

Featured Replies

He's just rolled out all the same ol' tired stats and stuff. With the right spin we could make a case for Grinter being just a misunderstood shy and retiring soul !!

No ones can dispute he's played a lot of games....... but were they all top quality?..or more the point...to the true potential he gives glimpses.

No one disputes his many posssessions..... but again ask what did he really do with all those disposals. ..certainly not what he COULD have done with them.

He's played every game since Danners got there.... well well isnt that an interesting stat !! because ND has been such a winner !!

Its put up that he was best on ground in R17 last year... so in true Dave Allen logic.... how many games WASN"T he ?? a damn site more.

Youre right ..the times not up for him probably this week.... he's bloody lucky we dont have a full list to pick from...and thats teh only statistic worth keeping in mind going into this weeks game.

The fact that he's likely to play says more about the team than anything to do with his deserving to be in it presently.

He's a lucky boy... he ought to repay it.

Another blunder by ND...how much i hate him

Yze thank god im not coach thats all i can say

see the problem is i cant agree for many reasons,

one in particular

u dudes have the same opinion as Mike Sheahan

now i would run to the nearest bridge if that was the case

and Mike Sheahan knows nothing about football ?

he too is a frustrated Melbourne supporter

Does Matt Burgan follow the Demons?

Last year he wrote THE EXACT SAME ARTICLE when Yze was out of form late in the year. It was titled something ridiculous like 'Yze is still a star' after he hadnt had a kick for 3 weeks

Talk about repetitive journalism

all u have to do is look at his top 50 players every year too answer that question

Umm i dont know where u got your info, because here is a link to Sheahan's top 50 player List as discussed last month and guess what....... YZE is NOT There. So he is no longer in the top 50.

Yze is lucky that we dont have a full list, so i give him one or possibly two more chances and if he does not improve, if i was coach i would drop him.

He was far from our worse on Friday Night and therefore must be retained.

I'd be sharpening the axe at blokes like Chris Johnson (yes he had a great NAB series but has yet to show anything in H & A) who ran around like a headless chook and Matty Bate who continued his lacklustre pre-season form last week. CJ looks like the sort of player that is an absolute star in the VFL, but isn't quite up to it in the rigours of a helter-skelter home and away game. I've been saying this for 6 months. I hope he proves me wrong.

We need a win on Monday, and therefore we must play players who are good enough to get us over the line. I think Yze's moment in the sun may arrive this Monday. If I'm wrong then Sandy for the following weekend.

umm no...

proving my point Shehan knows nothin..... Hunter, bowden, Mcpharilin  love his work....

The dilemma over whether to drop Yze or not can be determined by answering the following question - Is there anyone out of the team at present who would be a viable alternative this week . Unfortunately I don't think there is , if we consider Rivers as the logical change for McLean , whilst Sylvia and Pickett are unlikely to be match fit enough to make an impact .and therefore likely to miss .

Does Matt Burgan follow the Demons?

Yep he does.

There's no doubt Yze has been a great player over the years. No one is denying that. The issue has been his performances in the last 3 years.

He will always rack up possessions. But possessions don't tell much of a story. Anyone can run behind a ruckman and get a cheap handball.

I didn't think Yze was our worst on Friday night. But at the same time he isn't doing much to solidify his place in the 22. He probably doesn't deserve to be dropped on that performance, but it's the fact that his performances over the last couple of years have been ordinary that makes him borderline selection.

I think he should play this week. But he's only hanging in there and definitely needs to do more to cement his spot or else he'll be down at Sandy.

the great irony is we wouldnt even really be discussing him in negative tones much if it were'nt for the fact he is a very very good player....when on song.

he's like that straight A kid who doesnt apply himself coz he can just cruise...and still get by.

he getting drinks on past glories at present... and the keg may run dry any minute now !!

How many chances doe Yze get the guy has been woeful since the queens birthday typical MFC drop a young guy and shatter his confidence and keep NDs love child in for another week and tell him he has to perform

We will hear ND say it all year until Yze breaks the 244 game record then we will give him another 3 year contract

@ the start of the season I thought he should be given 2 & no more than 2 H & A games to prove his worth or else be dropped. Well that time is approaching & from where I stand this is it for Yze, lucky last chance YZZ.

with apologies to whomever posted it... the 'matter' is in a way to remove the monkey.. get this record sh!t out of the way !! he doesnt deserve to outplay Stynesy anyways. then he can ( maybe ) go back to what he's actually good at..he CAN play footy..the qulaifier is...whn he wants to....well lets get him 'wanting' to !!

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
