As to Oliver. Yes I know I'm marking him hard, but he was again ineffectual for large parts of the game as he went about the easy gives and I am sick of him trying to milk frees like he tried against Frosty. God he'd be good if he really believed in himself. He has all the tools - just needs to stop playing Robin to Trac's Batman and start realising that he can be as valuable as Chris Judd with his linebreaking speed.

I think you're confused. It's Christian Bale who plays Batman, not Christian Petracca.

I like your six players chosen. Minor quibble with the order, though.

The coaches agreed with my first three!  Was that where your quibble was?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
