Wonder how Jack Carroll went in the Carlton ressies this year. Few on here were quite keen on him and he was linked to us by cal and also discussed by Taylor and Co on the draft vid before settling on Rosman.

Just to add some extra sugar to the story, last nights win ensured we got maximum value out of this trade.

Two first rounders in last draft (Bowey & Laurie) for our first round this year + 25

😎

So is it roughly 18, 19 and 32 for 18, 25, 68 and 69 (2021 picks bold)?

Awesome trade

Still a bit to play out here. If we go down in straight sets our first rounder this year will be 14. Win the premiership and it's 18. So could be any pick between those two numbers really.

Say we win the premiership though, it will be

Out: 18 and 25

In: 18, 19 and 32-35.

Of course our picks 18 and 19 became 21 and 22 after NGA and other  academy selections.

Not sure what happened to their pick 25 due to the myriad of trades and bids on draft night.

This year though our pick "18" will blow out to at least 20 due to f/s in Daicos and Darcy.

So rough equation is

Out: Pick 20 (2021) and 25 (2020)

In: Pick 21, 22 (2020) and 32-35 (2021)

Legend, some interesting stats there and presume injury played a part in a game or two

Thanks - did not know this.

I'd always assumed picks were based on H&A finishing position.

(Probably because I've been so used to finishing 9th > 16th where I guess they are... 😉)

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice?
