AFL Most Improved 2019 to 2020

Featured Replies

2. Mitch Hannan (MELB): 166.5%

Intercepting defender Williams tops the charts, closely followed by Mitch Hannan from Melbourne and Will Setterfield from Carlton.

Hannan rates elite for score assists, and his accuracy – which remains a critical element to determine the AFL Player Ratings – has jumped from 50 per cent to 70 per cent. Despite these numbers, the forward was dropped for Round 12 and would have been an emergency had he not fallen ill.

8. Christian Petracca (MELB): 68.8%

Of the top 31 most improved players this year, just one averaged more than 10 Ratings Points per 100 minutes last year: Christian Petracca. The rest were coming off relatively low bases.

From an already lofty perch, the Demons midfielder has taken another quantum leap in 2020, averaging 19.2 Ratings Points per outing. He’s the 8th most improved player in the AFL and it is little wonder he’s second favourite for the Brownlow Medal behind Lachie Neale, who is Brisbane’s sixth most improved performer.

So we don't play Jimmy for what reason?

I really would like to know. He really puts forward pressure on and gets to the right spots.

Much better that Fritiich, who doesn't kick early goals, who doesn't really contest, who really looks like  he is  a contender but misses too many easy goals at the beginning  of games

Should be a star but wont be coz he is scared and doesn't really believe in himself  Needs a strong mentor in my opinion.

Hannan or Fritsch.  Probably only one spot available for the mid-size-tall forward/half forward.

Melksham. Tmcd. Vdberg

Pickett.  Weid.  Fritsch /Hannan

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
