So now that Tyson is gone, does anyone else feel relieved in not having to live in some unfortunately deep down conscious state of denial about the future?

Max will be worn out before the season starts.

Does the arrival of Pruess enable us to rest Maxy in 3-4 games against struggling teams during the year, to have him cherry ripe for big games..?

Yes and [censored] oath!! But the real benefit will hopefully be if we can play both of them during 50% of games this year. Maxi gets to rest on bench or up fwd and not burn himself out like last year.
