With Viney at 134, Brayshaw 166 and my boy KK all coming back from injury, we will have at least 9 by end of 2019

I like your optimism. Welcome to Demonland.

Can understand why Viney is at 134 as a result of him missing most of the year to injury but am staggered that Brayshaw is at 166 considering he played most of the year and was third in the Brownlow. With full years I expect both to make it to the Top 100.

Would be thrilled if KK has that impact too. We'll be in a good place if he does.

Player ratings take into account the last 40 games of a player. So Brayshaw’s concussion year of 2017 is still factored in. It’s why he is bound to be pushing top 50 next year

We still have so much improvement to make as well.

Guys like Viney, Harmes and Brayshaw will be in there by this time next year.  We have others, like Christian Salem, Michael Hibberd, Nev Jetta, Sam Weideman and so forth who could also push their case for a spot in there next year.  Not to mention Jake Lever and Steven May, who are fantastic players in their own right.

It's all good stuff.

Love this time of year. The optimism generated could power the Demonland servers in perpetuity. :P

Having 6 inside the Top 100, with plenty who could stake a claim of being in there as well, is so much better than not having any at all like previous years.  I'll take that every day of the week!

Thankfully there's not 100% correlation with team performance or ladder position.

Where's West Coast again? Or that team full of talent ... GWS?

We beat three of the five teams above us.

Seeing as we have been rated by Champion Data as having the best midfield, 2nd best defence and 5th best forward line some of these teams above us must have amazing interchange players....

Me too. I was stoked just seeing an image of Gus at a tram stop spruiking the new Kayo Live Sports App. It's been ages since a Dees player was used for any type of promotion. Same goes for Maxy's Google Home ads. Being relevant beats getting laughed at (which still happens on social media). Time to shut them all up and win some silverware.

I really think that the MFC has more top players than indicated; however, conservatism rules and keeps us just a little bit less exposed. Maybe this is a strength - surprise thrashings that we can dish out from time to time are satisfying - yet I feel were are truly on the cusp of dishing out a few more and fully losing the tendency to be an 'easybeat' anomaly with lesser opposition from time to time.

  • CASEY: Coburg

The Casey Demons returned to their home ground which was once a graveyard for opposing teams but they managed to gift the four points on offer to Coburg with yet another of their trademark displays of inaccuracy in front of goals and some undisciplined football that earned the displeasure of the umpires late in the game. The home team was welcomed by a small crowd at Casey Fields and looked right at home as it dominated the first three quarters and led for all bar the last five minutes of the game. In the end, they came away with nothing, despite winning everywhere but on the scoreboard and the free kick count.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.
