2018 Player Reviews: # 24 Jay Kennedy Harris

NO HYPHEN?

JKH mysteriously lost his hyphen or perhaps it was never there? Whatever the case, he did manage to get in a handful of games at AFL level and his contract was extended by another 12 months. Had his moments but not enough for best 22.

A good example of a player who does exactly what the coaches ask of him. Has some limitations, but will be a handy depth player that the coaches trust to do a job.

I had him pencilled in as a delisting at the start of the season, good on him for extending his career.

Very lucky boy compared to Bugg & Pedersen.  Was disappointing when given senior games.  Is ok when he gets the ball with time & space but is very poor in traffic & fails to take half chances.

In the VFL Grand Final was brilliant in the first quarter then completely disappeared as Box Hill slowly got on top so I reckon he is extremely lucky to get another deal.

An ordinary player who played a few games at the end of the year which saved him from being delisted. JKH needs a big year.

He actually showed more at the end of this year than seen previously, the fact that he got games from a coach that does not seem to play favourites suggests the penny has dropped and he is doing what he is asked (although I don't think anyone has accused him of an attitude). I do see him as depth though and not best 22.

Showed improvement through the year and his last game against GWS was his best game.  Unlucky to be dropped for finals.  The FD clearly rate what he offers ahead of other depth - McCartney is a fan.

He must be disciplined in his game plan and positioning, he sticks his tackles and is generally a neat kick now that he has is used to the pace of AFL vs VFL. Works very hard at training.

I'm comfortable with him on the list. There is a small probability of break out worth considering.
