Journos come and go with very little interest from me. I have a genuine dislike for any journo who is as famous, or more so, than their specialist subject. And Caro definitely became one of these. She wrote well, and good writing is a rare beast these days, so that is a plus for her. Apart from that, couldn't give a toss really.

The footy media has certainly become a weird, sort of incestuous, beast. I don't care for many of them, nor some of the ex-footballers in commentary and analysis roles. Many of them definitely need to be bought down a peg or three.

IMO Jake Niall is a good footy journo as well as an excellent writer in general. He wrote a quality article on Jimmy near the end. Was at The Age for 20 years until a couple of years ago. I wonder if he got sick of the celebrity journos at the paper (Caro, Connolly) and got a better opportunity at Fox. A good re-draft by The Age.

At least you are honest with your assessment. Between the lines, l read it that you rate her. I rate her highly regardless of her white lies now and then. That's a journo for you. Caro held herself well.

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG after a dismal performance in Gather Round to face the reigning dual Premiers Brisbane. What do expect to see from the Dees today?

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
