Angus Brayshaw Neck Injury

Isn't it obvious. Risk of being hit by a cricket ball in exactly the right place on his neck while playing football. Happens all the time. Where have you been.

I had a red apple thrown at me while playing footy as a kid. Hit me in the chin, close enough to the neck.

After all some people's chin is their neck. Not casting any aspersions.

Hope it didn't end your career.

Righto, I have stated my opinion and that's what it is ...an opinion. Last time I checked Demonland is a forum to air an opinion. I have aired mine. There are a lot of Demonland posters who disagree with my opinions so be it. Each to his/Her own but no need for some on this site to get aggressive/ beligerent!  Over and out on the issue!

I think the answer is somewhere in between being hysterical about the issue - and being completely dismissive (like many are). Obviously the club has been trying to teach Gus to enter contests in a strategic fashion (in order to minimize the chances of concussion). The reason why I say the answer is probably somewhere in between is because he did enter a contest and didn't get concussed, but the outcome wasn't exactly ideal either. He still has some work to do, and I think he would be the first to admit that. Given that he hasn't just pulled stumps and gone home (which is something many players may have done), I suspect that he is working hard to get his game right. I don't like the fact that Brayshaw is playing VFL, but at this point in his recovery, it wouldn't have been smart for the club to hold him back, and say "you cannot play". Because that would have been an admission by the club that it didn't have full confidence in its methodology (how to enter contests, etc). All recent events have taught us is that there is work to do on both sides. I am glad the club pulled Brayshaw out and got him scanned. He is playing under a lot of uncertainty now, and is in new territory. But he knows that and still wants to play, so I think as supporters we should back him in.

I don't really understand how people with absolutely no information about an injury, can then say might be time to give it away?

Certainly not rubbishing your opinion PF. It is still wise to be concerned for his well being so you are right there.

What is the actual injury he sustained? Is it potentially related to previous concussion issues?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
