Successful in the GF ballot this year so ??

I find I use my MCC membership less and less as I am getting older (but I am retiring next year so maybe I will use it more). Lining up overnight to get decent walk up seatsĀ is getting less and less attractive for the GF if I donā€™t get a reserved seatĀ in the ballot. Very expensive to keep and not keen on giving it up after 40 years.Ā

Glad I have my Trident membership as well becauseĀ most of the people I go to the games with are not MCC members.Ā

Ā

I've been a Melbourne Footy Club member since I could start paying for one myself, back in 2001.

A couple of years back, I got an MCC provisional membership.Ā It costs around $350 a year. It essentially means you get access to all matches except Finals and marquee matches. From an MFC perspective that means no Anzac Eve or Queens Birthday.

I've kept my MFC membership going, but downgradedĀ to a 3 game membership. It means I can get intoĀ Anzac Eve and Queens Birthday and get access for Weeks 1-3 of the finals.

However, with the GF it means I'm Priority 3.

Of course, I went into it with open eyes. From a budget perspective, I found it hard to justify paying for a full MFC membership (let alone a higher level one which guarantees a GF seat)Ā when I already had paid a sizable amount for a MCC provisional membership. And of course, atĀ the time of purchase, there seemedĀ limited chance we'd get this far into September.

It's a little frustrating. With the limited offering provided by provisional MCC membership (and still some years before I can get to restricted level, let alone full MCC membership), part of me thinks I should forgo it and invest in a higher level footy clubĀ membership instead.Ā

Ā

Ā

Can anyone confirm whether MCC level 3 is accessible for those that line up forĀ the Grand Final, or is that part of the ballot pre-sale?

Iā€™ve used my MCC membership once this year for a non MFC game. I waited for so long to get it but in the last couple of years of waiting took up the Trident and loved it. Wish you could lease it out sometimes :)

The balcony is available for those lining up, however these seats are the very first to go. I wouldnā€™t get your heart set on it.

And of course, you need to be a full member.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old sideā€”the Tigersā€”coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking?Ā I mean by ā€œtheyā€ the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around.Itā€™s no secret that the Demonsā€™ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack.Ā Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryanā€™s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winningĀ 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
