Rowe goes off with a knee injury, has treatment, goes back on and his knee collapses.  Now may have an ACL problem.  Bolton is asked about his treatment:

"No, true professionals our doctors, true professionals," Bolton said.

A case of he 'doth protest too much'?

Even The Age reports: 'The early diagnosis by the Blues medical staff was clearly wrong though'.

Most on DL had doubts about their doctor's professionalism after the Hogan/Rowe and Lewis/Cripps incidents when they let those guys play on with 'slight' injuries and then gave condemning medical reports to the MRP.

Won't happen but AFL should investigate Carlton Doctors!

From what happened in their game against us I'm not surprised a duty of care issue is going to blow up in their face.

Update:  http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/season-over-for-carltons-sam-rowe-with-torn-acl-20170522-gwaccw.html

Carlton doctors are claiming Rowe did the ACL when he went back on the ground.

They may well have ended his career or he sees out his career in the reserves as he will be 30 this year.  A lot to answer for.

This episode adds to the argument the AFL need to have an independent doctor at every game to tick off the club doctors decisions.  A bit cumbersome maybe but it is the only way to get some integrity back into the sport.

Also the independent doctor (not club doctors) should be the one that deems the impact of a hit as low/medium/high for MRP purposes.  The MRP then would not have the discretion to change that grading.  Will bring some consistency back into MRP decsions.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
