iv'a worn smith 1,979 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 I loved his work. His satire showed just how ridiculous most politicians are. He has gone too soon of course and after the year of famous passings we had last year, this continues to put all of our mortality into sharp focus. Sympathy to his family and friends.
Sir Why You Little 37,450 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 John was a true humble genius Had the pleasure of working with him a few times and sharing the odd coffee in St. Kilda RIP John. I shall be watching some of your works tonight.
P-man 13,367 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Extremely sad. A brilliant man. One of the true kings of comedy.
Earl Hood 6,167 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Gee I am going to miss my Clark & Dawes weekly political fix. The man was a satirical genius. By refusing to change his look or personna in his exchanges with Dawes he overcame the blandness of our recent political leaders and concented solely on the hypocrisy or absurdity of their political positions of the day. We need political satire but who will provide that now? I used to pass him in Fitzroy from time to time and he always said g'day with that cheeky grin and the mischievous glint in his eyes. RIP John Clark
hardtack 11,106 Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 From Fred Dagg to astute political satirist, via Death in Brunswick, the man was a genius. Sad to seem him go.
Jara 1,153 Posted April 11, 2017 Posted April 11, 2017 What a man. So sad. I remember a plumber working at our place once, just seen Death in Brunswick, commented that it was a boring film, but the screen lit up whenever Clarke was on screen. And his range! Those books of Australian poetry - some of the funniest writing I've ever read. RACV Milne , Walter Burley Yeats et al Sir Why You Little, you were blessed.
