Here'a a few short articles that might be worth a read ...

Nature Strip Vs Sunlight in Lightning Stakes (July 28)

Redkirk sights now set on Flemington

Voodoo Lad,  Brutal,  Saturday's sectional stars

And here's the Grand Prix de Paris (3YO Derby) that was run at Longchamp at the weekend ... n.b the jockey (Ryan Moore) ended up winning 2 Group 1 races on the same day in 2 different countries! (The July Cup &  Grand Prix de Paris)  What an amazing feat.

And the winner of the race is an outside chance to be brought to Melbourne for the Cups in the Spring.

Best Bet ...

Flemington  Race 6  No.1 Brave Song $4.00

All the tipsters have marked the horse on top in this race and it should at least get into the finish.  Although it's only raced 8 times it's first up form is excellent ... and it was running against some very good horses in the Autumn before being spelled.

Best Bet:

Randwick R7 No3 - I Thought So $4.00

This is a very tricky race. The horse might go on with it now after breaking a run of outs. Hasn’t won on a Good track but he only just missed back on the 26th of May on the same track and distance on a Good track. It’s in good form, barrier 1 and with Shinn to ride, I believe it’s a realistic chance of winning.

Haha @Macca Were we studying the form at the same time??

I'm trying a different strategy this week DZ with a series of small win bets and just a couple of trifectas ... following Gator & JJ as well.  Gator does alright in Sydney too so I've noted his picks at Randwick on Saturday.

Haven't come across a standout NSW racing tipster although Brad Davidson & Ron Dufficy are quite good.  Gator & JJ are very good though so both are worth following.

At this time of year I'd rather rely on the experts ... the 'I Thought So' race is a good trifecta race so I'll include your choice as a top chance as well as in a multi with our 3 best bets.  We're due!

That would be some win if we can get up tomorrow night Wadda. I notice the Dees have the wobbles in the markets after Hibbo’s quad injury.

The races have been somewhat of a grind this winter, a couple of winners here and there have kept the ledger even to a degree. Bring on the spring I say.

As @Macca stated - We’re due!

A Best Bet multi win and a Dees win down at Sleepy Hollow? I’d like to see that!

Well i took the BBs into the Dees at the line which allows a margin of +10.5. Got 108/1 boosted.

Im an optimist i guess...

A couple of value bets from Gator - he reckons both horses are paying overs.  If he is unsure or non-committal I disregard but when he is confident,  it often pays to take note.

Flemington  Race 1  No.8 Absolute Heaven  $8.00 (enhanced)

Randwick  Race 9  No.8 Sanctioned  $13.00 (boosted)

And James Jordan's best bet ...

Morphettville  Race 2  No. 7 Embecee Lil  $5.00 (enhanced)

Good luck to all tomorrow!

And go the mighty Demons tomorrow night ... any sort of win will do!

Some good tips there Macca. Im too busy lately to watch the racing shows, but i agree these guys know what theyre talking about....way more than me anyway !

They really need to introduce winter racing on Friday nights at the Valley. Beats watching some of these horror Friday night AFL games.

Forgot to mention earlier. The boys from work have a runner tomorrow at Morphetville Race 6 Number 5 Captain Harry ($7.50).

It ran a couple of weeks ago at Caulfield where it failed. Again, maybe just an interest runner simply because the Weir factor and choosing to take the horse to Adelaide.

I like to watch 'Get On' & Sky's 'Form Line' but often on fast forward due to time constraints like yourself Wadda ... but I always listen to what Gator has to say.  He is a font of knowledge with regards to the horses.

We're slowly but surely getting a number of the better horses back in preparation for the Spring ... things start getting interesting from next weekend onwards with the Bletchingly Stakes

And next Monday at Rosehill we'll see a star-studded trial featuring Winx,  Chautauqua and a whole host of other topliners - see the full field here

Australian Group & Listed Races

Good start to the day for one punter.

Shortly before R2 commenced at Doomben the Sky host was alerted by Tab that a punter had a 15K multi going at $6.

His first leg was the favourite at Townsville R1 which saluted into the favourite at Doomben R2.

Edit: Miles Of Krishan wins the second at Flem. That was one of your previous bests @Macca from memory. Nice win price too.

Yeah I certainly looked at Miles of Krishnan DZ but I decided to go with Gator & JJ today with a series of small win bets ... had So Splendid going in the race but no go today.

You have to pick them at the right time but that's racing ... however,  I'm reasonably confident of breaking even (at least) on the day.

Yes that’s right Macca. We’ve been near enough the mark with our selections. We’ve been doing this for a while now and have at least found some horses to follow, whether we are on them when they win is another matter, but like you said that’s the game.

Regardless of quality running around, the Flemington track comes up a treat every time. Been watching patterns early on and will start my venture soon.

Got my first collect for the day in the 4th at Randwick ... a trifecta!  Only a small collect but it's nice to get on the board DZ.

Good job Macca. I was going to have a go now at the next at Flem but with 20 runners down the straight....I’d be throwing darts.

If this racing caper doesn’t work out for us we could always start a team of 3 for dart pub leagues.

And if you'd thrown 4 darts and come up with 13, 10, 16 & 17 you'd have won $57k.  ha ha

Or Oliver,  Brayshaw,  Kent & Frost as favourites ... the first 2 yeah and I do like what Frost offers ...

Haha, Brown will be too strong one on one in my opinion, unless they are using Howe to sit off him a bit and come in as a leaper/spoiler to limit the long Brown reach.

This thread is going well early, a little bit too serious on the footy side of the forum at the moment. Our BBs on soon. Good luck all.

Wow, I just placed my multi via the wife’s ( mine really) TAB account and after using the multiplier option it gave me 3x the odds. Instead of $38.30 my price is now $114.90. Let this be the day fellas!!

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
