Midweek Special (Wednesday)

Sandown R6 No.7 Bella Tiara 5.50/1.80

Ran a good race, but I think hung back just a little too long, wanted it to move up about 100m before it did.

Guy at works son owns canasta, it’s running again at Randwick race 5, n8

It’s gone up a class and down 3kg. I was surprised to see it fav but I rate it. Last run it was never going to lose.

Will post my best bet tomorrow when I get a chance to properly look over the races

I agree ... they might have thought that the 490 metre straight at Sandown was long enough for the horse to catch the on pace runners but it wasn't a truly run race (sit & sprint)

I'm loathe to blame the jockey in that situation because Dean Yendall might have been riding to instructions

The connections & trainer would have learned a lesson though.  Not exactly a good thing beaten but it could have won the race

p.s. Dean Yendall just rode Fighting Harada to a win at Pakenham after the horse had been off the scene for over 2 years!!  That horse might be worth following as it showed promise as a 2yo & 3yo (now 5yo)

Had that down race down as one for the exotics Gorg as there's some value there with the right combo saluting

I'm with Jamie Kah for a lot of the races on Saturday ... and she's riding Starcaster at the Valley tomorrow night (R4 No.7)

But that race (the listed Torney Night Cup) has attracted a small but very competitive field.  Exotics?

Yeah maybe exotics, I’ve not looked too hard yet.

Canasta last week dropped out price due to a soft track and I gather they thought it wouldn’t run as well, but it ran like it was on a dry track.
the up in class is the only query.
I will have some on the nose and prob put it in a multi as a ew

Elite street at 15, $18 powered is great odds. Smashed Trekking last run. Race 8 #3

We got that one up in the Railway St. at good odds ... another ADATR Blackbooker

Value bet. $6 Race 3 #2 Randwick Lamington drive

Was already on it Gorg

I reckon our 2 picks will both go close so the place multi is on the cards (maybe with 1 or 2 others)

Good call on starcaster! Nice collect on her!

And Starcaster duly wins ridden a treat by Jamie Kah.

That kicks off the weekend's racing on a good note!

I just quoted myself in typical self-indulgent fashion!

But winners are grinners Gorg especially with the double winnings at Laddies

Good get.
looked like it ran well

Was looking at entrapment but decided against getting as I’m a few beers in... and it salutes with miss Kah riding a winner again.

I was on Rock the Ring and backed Entrapped at its last start (ugh) ... had good Tassie form

But that win goes down to the jockey again.  Jamie Kah is a gun and she does it so effortlessly.  Maybe like Bowman?

Got a 4 leg multi tomorrow with just four of her rides. Let’s hope she rides winners  tomorrow.

G’day fellas. Lockdown viewing is back.

I’m liking Hamlet Von Snitzel (6) Race 4 Doomben today at $5.50.

Won its two trials impressively without blinkers on, on debut a few weeks ago they chose to run it with blinkers and ran a solid third by 0.8 lengths. Blinkers are off today and hopefully it has learnt a thing or two since debut.

Was Quantum Mechanic one of 'em Gorg?

I was on straight out with the Laddies 'double dividend'  Early winners are just Gold especially with the bonus!

I wonder what Damien & Craig make of Jamie Kah's success?  Tony McEvoy was none too happy when Jamie left S.A. for greener pastures

Exceptionally good decision made by the elite hoop as far as I'm concerned

Yeah it was. Had a trifecta on the race which was 1,2,4th so that sucked. ?

Frost flowers looked good but halfway through threw the head around quite a bit.

Yep ... gave Frost Flowers another go but she wasn't up to it unfortunately.  Had every chance though

Ingratiating ran well again and is worth following.  Enthaar is still the one?  Anamoe the smoky?  You'd imagine it's those 3 for the Diamond but there might be 1 or 2 others

Ollie has Ingratiating & Anamoe as line ball now (after race interview) Blinkers & carrying 59kgs today is changing his mind

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
