I got a few collects Wadda but went oh so close on a number of big dividend exotics.

Reasonably confident about Sha Tin tomorrow but as always,  luck plays a big part.

The main thing is being able to have an avid interest in something ... I'm betting even smaller across more events so as to have more of a wider scope.

Went ok early, but sideways from there.....

Got any reasonable hunches for Sha Tin?

I follow Purton & Moreira because those 2 premier jockeys are often on the best 2 horses in any given race of the 10 or 11 race card ... but not always.

So I first of all evaluate which of their mounts can win and then do a series of 2/5 exacta's.  Or if the odds are too short I default to the 2Pick multi.  And there's usually 1 or 2 horses in any given race (not ridden by Purton & Moreira) that also can win.

So you've got to do your form Wadda

But 2 horses that should win tomorrow are R4 No.2 Good View Clarico (Purton) & R6 No.5 Colonel (Purton)

Both are even money (or maybe 6-4) so the 2Pick multi works better ... 5-1 combined odds with a boost.

Odds not up until lunchtime tomorrow so both could easily tighten in the market.  I get the odds and tips from the following web sites

Thanks Macca. Ive had a bit of a look in the past and i noticed Jose & Zac saluted in a fair few of the races. It seems a good strategy to follow and your putting approach is sound. Im at home today, surprise surprise, so ill have a bit of a look. Good luck!

Those 2 often boot home 5 or 6 winners on any given raceday and if you had advanced knowledge of which ones were going to win then you'd win enough money to buy an island in the Pacific.

Which would be more than handy right now!

Favourites get beaten more often than not though Wadda so it's buyer beware.  I prefer the 2 leg multi with the shorties ... smaller outlay but to win more.  Or just do an exacta (some prefer the quinella or trifecta)

Yeah ok cool....Ill have New Zealand.

Yeah every time i bet in Hong Kong the 129/1 shot beats the 1.70 by 2 lengths.....but ill pay a bit more attention to the form today.

I actually did ok on Zac, Jose and Blake and booted home a 3 leg multi that allowed me to break even over the weekend. So maybe im a convert now Macca ! :)

Prawn Yeah Yeah and Private Rocket however are still names im getting used to....not to mention Demons Rock. We better follow the latter!

There's been a benefit to having no spectators on course. Despite the technical difficulties of having to phone a friend Bruce & Skyping Corey Brown & Katie Mallyon, the coverage of the Sydney autumn carnival is much improved. It's all about the horses & racing. No poxy fashions on the field flogging clobber that no-one would ever wear. No airhead "celebrities" spending their 15 of fame being interviewed by wannabe weathergirls. All about horses & the sport. Bloody marvellous

No such luck my way Wadda but you win some,  you lose some.  It wasn't a strong card though but I knew that going in.  Hard to evaluate form when there isn't much to speak of.

Zac had an average day by his own standards.  But both he and Joao have ridden 198 winners between them this season ... that's form worth following in anyone's book.

Still,  there's always next weekend and I'll be interested to see whether 'Nature Strip' runs in the G1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) on Saturday ... Waller has spruiked the horse over the longer distance but we'll see.

But because the racing may stop at any time the owners are running their horses to maximum fields.  Prizemoney being slashed means that every dollar is being chased.

Yeah the lack of a crowd has made zero difference from my point of view GtB.  The crowd is generally not part of the viewing experience and our ears are trained to the race caller anyway.

Let's face it,  it's all about the racing,  horses & jockeys and they could pipe in the crowd noise for all I care.  I don't notice it anyway.

Ahhhh....i was wondering what was going on? All the fields seem to be very large at all venues. I hadnt realized the prize money had been reduced as well.

I just had a winner into a couple of places, but thats all you need sometimes. It did seem they had an average day. It was very hard early and yes many horses had not much form to speak of. 4067803 meant favourite in a few races. But it was a bit of fun nevertheless. Ill be watching in the future for some good cards. Thanks for the input.

And to keep this thread ticking over Wadda I'll promote up some e-Sports iRacing Motor Racing if and when it appears.  Maybe the F1's as well if it's happening (or if found)

For instance ... over the next 10 Wednesday's (7pm) Foxtel and 10Play (free) are showing the iRacing (V8 Supercars) with the real drivers at the controls and playing for real points.

It's better than one would imagine ... the graphics are superb.  10Play is available through the network 10 website.  Once there,  just look for the large rectangular V8 Supercars 'Icon.'  Then click away.  Works best on a PC.

And Happy Valley is on Wed (late) as well so the Joao & Zac show rolls on!  I will just do a few win bets and a couple of small multi's with those 2 as the conduits.

Indeed. Your race has a number of amazing place chances including Super Seth at 5, Star of the Seas at 8 and Colin Sylvias Mother at 20 !!

On a side note, have you had a chance to listen to Roy & HG on Grandstand at 12 noon Saturdays. Absolute top entertainment talking about all sports, when there is no sport. Classic.

In a top class sprint race there's often any number of chances but the class usually prevails.

Santa is drawn to do no work and just needs a bit of daylight to come storming home and win.  And the horse is definitely looking for 1400m.  If the race was over 1200m the no.1 barrier might be a hindrance.

Pierata,  Bivouac & Dreamforce are the dangers as I see it.  Super Seth (JMac) the next best?  Fierce Impact & Brandenburg have claims as well.  The All Aged is a real good line up this time around.  A good betting race.

And I was wondering what Roy & HG were up to ... thanks for the heads-up Wadda.

Yeah Santa is a great pick, esp if the track is firming up which it will..

I was only looking at the place prices of those 3, especially Seth at 5/1....surely that will come in as the track firms. Like you say, hes 4th in the line of betting and i would agree.

R&HG are in top form on that show and havent lost a yard ! Had me in stitches last week.

I see your point Wadda but even when I recognise the other choices in a race,  I look away.

Just like the footy,  all the other horses are the enemy (place or win) ... for instance,  if Super Seth runs a place but in the process blocks Santa Ana Lane's run,  then Super Seth can go to hell!!! Haha ?

Alex Watson did apparently ... the equivalent of 68 coffees when his caffiene levels tested positive at a past Olympics.

Sword fighters need to be alert but that's taking things to extreme levels.

One coffee in the evening and I can't fall asleep ... 68 coffees?  I'd be climbing the walls screaming "Go Santa Ana Lane,  go you good thing!"

Got an early winner with Snitz at Randwick ... bonus of double your winnings (via Laddies) means that the rest of day's bets are with house money

Ya gotta love that!

Nice fellas, Macca with Race 1 winner in Syd, Wadda with Race 2, I’m sure Rubisaki was in some of our multis, mine anyway but the Pippie was swallowed up at Caulfield so no good there. Kinane just got me back on track.

Edit: Sorry, got it wrong way around. Wadda R1 and Macca R2.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
