Best Bets:

Rosehill: Race 6 No 2 Sayed  $3.40

Sunshine Coast: Race 7 Number 2 The Bostonian  $3.40

Caulfield: Race 7 No 3 Usain Bowler  $4.40

This weeks lucky numbers will net you a lazy $51.00 (approx) for your lazy $1.00 outlay, if they happen to win !

Good luck punters !

You'd reckon that sooner or later we'd get the 3 up Wadda ... and today is as good a time as any!

I got on last night @ 55-1 (boosted)  Just as well too as Sayed has come right in due to the scratchings in that race.

I also llike 'I'm a Rippa' as my each-way chance in the Glasshouse Hcp (Sunshine Coast Race 9) ... currently showing $6.50 & $2.30

Got some tips fellas and I don’t usually receive them often. No comment in the text just races and numbers. I’ll post them anyway just to test out the source.

Rosehill R5 No.1 La Chica Bella

I notice the horse will carry 61kg on the Soft. Good start.

Rosehill R8 No.13 Mapmaker

Morphetville R3 No.5 Canford

Yep i went down to the tab before and got 27/1. :( Typical.

I did put them all on for a place as well into a few football teams.

Tell me....when you bet on the soccer (tab) shows result at full time. So how do you bet on a result at total time or whatever...ie the end of the game! Is it even possible? Im guessing its not.

Always like a good tip DZ. Yep 61kg in the mud is a great start! Is this the same sauce that said we would thrash Peru?

Don't know Wadda ... you are better off betting at Sportsbet or Ladbrokes where the odds shown are for after extra time or for the actual result regardless of extra time or penalties.

The TAB do it for other sports as well and they shouldn't do so - a lot of punters get caught out.

Weve had some bad luck with the selections. We really have had some gun horses put in some very average runs, beaten by bolters, pipped on the line you name it. That said we are due soon. Come Spring we may get a few on the trot, so to speak.

Haha, we’ll find out soon enough Wadda. I’m taking the tips in a place multi, some good value. Around $7 for an all-place multi.

There is a method of result betting option available on Tab for the soccer. Pick your team to win in extra time, penalties, full time, siesta time, whatever pleases you mate. There was a  “ To Qualify”  option on games but I can’t see it in the markets. That was always a good option to avoid the dreaded draw.

Same here Wadda, big moves on Sayed and The Bostonian early this morning like Macca stated.

Won’t complain though when it comes through. ?

I did actually see that to qualify option on a machine at the tab DZ. Wasnt sure what it meant.

That’s probably the best option when it comes to knockout rounds. Just pick the team you think will go through to the next round. Slightly smaller odds of course but a simple way nonetheless.

Yep.... ive got the lampshade ready DZ! Will be doing a lap of the loungeroom in it later on....I guess you cant really complain at 27/1.

No good with the first “ Tip” at Morphetville. The jockey on Canford thought he was riding in a 3200m race. Got going way too late. Next!

Well Wadda, two tips in and we have tasted the sauce. Tastes like mustard. The horse with 61kg tired, no surprise though.

Staying races are not my go - even more so in the winter.  Sayed ran last - is that a first?  Another lesson learnt!

Anyway,  my go today is in the Caloundra Cup,  Glasshouse Hcp,  Strickland Stakes & the Irish Derby ... and a very good class 2 race at Sha Tin tomorrow (race 7)  3 more staying races in amongst that lot so here's hoping ?

No ive had one run last......weve all done it now! Its all good practice.

And The Bostonian salutes ... looked the winner a fair way from home too.  We got 1 winner at least.

Well done @Dee Zephyr

Yep mine no good either....think its still coming home. The day belongs to DZ.

I think my night will only get better. Boy is having his 10th Bday at some kids fun zone up this way and I found a Sporting Globe bar right next door. ? Races and sport everywhere.

It seems that we're taking it in turns to find that 1 winner Wadda ... although,  to be honest,  it's not the best time of year in terms of trying to find a winner.  It will be a different story in the Spring when all the good horses are running around.

Ideal outcome DZ - enjoy!

Ended up breaking even on the day (why does that feel like a win? ?)

Had a few collects but nothing of any real significance ... my new strategy of boxing 5 in a trifecta feels like a more assured way of betting though.  Only issue is the low percentage of not so large dividends!

But I've loaded up a bit on the Irish Derby as my feature betting event for the day ... will be a late night what with the World cup on overnight as well

The Curragh - Irish Derby  2400m  Group 1  3yo  SW  $2.4Million (2.15am Sunday)

And there's a decent sprint race on at Sha Tin tomorrow if you're looking to have a bet

The Hong Kong Reunification - Race 7  1200m  C2  $320k

Oh,  and here's Material Man vs Pounamu again (raced today) ...

Belmont - Strickland Stakes  2000m  WFA  Group 3

Gotta love tenth birthdays..

Irish Derby from overnight ...

The odds on favourite (Saxon Warrior) was always a good chance to not win especially after finishing 4th in the Epsom Derby so the $850 trifecta was there for the taking.

Apparently 'Latrobe' is owned by Lloyd Williams and I wonder whether he might bring the horse down to Australia for the cups?

El Magnificence to take on Nature Strip again in the listed A.R. Creswick Series Final ( R7) this Saturday at Flemington over 1200m.

What odds Nature Strip with that field DZ?

I had the race down as a trifecta race but will probably do a F4 instead with Nature Strip as the winner.

I will of course be including El Magificence in that F4.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
