I still remember Farmer taking a screamer over Robert Scott within the first 30 seconds too, which I thought was a great omen in that Prelim.  He then proceeded to go back and miss from 35 metres out!

And Bruce lost it in the ch7 commentary box.....special

This must be one of the few games that Lyon, Schwarz, Neitz, Farmer & Robbo started in the same team.... as well as Jeff White and Jimmy in the ruck!

Yep, North had the week off while we played St Kilda in very heavy conditions the week before with Jeff White getting injued late.

We were the form team at the time and along with 1990 it's probably our biggest opportunity missed.

If we had the current top 8 system we would have likely played North on the saturday afternoon at Waverley week 1 where i reckon we would of had their measure. Then i think we would have had St Kilda or Footscray on a saturday afternoon prelim followed by the Grand Final against either North again or Sydney.

Dammit!

Amazing how North went to water against a team we dominated.

Kicked themselves out of it in the frist half - 2 goals 13 was it?

I sent to both matches - the SF and Preliminary Final. I agree. Opportunity missed. I went to both 1988 + 2000 GFs. Never a chance in either.
