Just sent the following to the club.  If this outfit is ever to achieve it's targeted objectives, there needs to be total professionalism across every facet of the club's operation.

"I'm a MCC/MFC premium member and an East Melbourne resident.  

As tempted as I am to write to the MFC with some observations on yesterday's efforts, that's not the focus of my communication.  I regularly venture down to Gosch's for a kick with my son and have noticed the surface is in an increasingly shoddy state such that it's a serious risk for players training on it (overly hard in patches, ungrassed, loose sand / soil).  I'm not a trained horticulturist, but it's pretty self evident that the issue in certain parts of the arena is deficient water.  This in turn suggests a defective sprinkler system which when combined with the extremely dry summer period has produced the current result.  It needs to be remedied immediately before the winter no growth period and hence the questions begged are who is responsible for maintaining Gosch's Paddock to the elite standard claimed (MCC?) and who at the MFC is responsible for making sure they do their job?"

I had the same thought. Surely two trolls could not be so banal. He (i assume a he, because i'll bet london to a brick its' a bloke) should do some troll training before going public. Perhaps tease his little sister or back chat his dad. Then maybe make an off Broadway debut in the comments section of an innocuous hun article.

Different grounds. Victory is training where we used to train and the surface looks great, big open field. Goschs is a different shaped ground and where tje Pies used to train. If the surface is deteriorating we need to be on top of it before we loose someone to a training accident, a la the Ox circa 1995 pre season slipping on a sprinkler.

Here's the point, seeing as it seems to have passed you by: do you think the quality of the surface at Gosch's a) has absolutely anything to do with our abysmal performance yesterday, or b) has gone unnoticed by the professional footballers, coaches and staff at MFC who are literally there for many hours several times a week?

It's built on an indian burial ground, but don't tell anyone, it explains the way we have performed over the last ten year...

The principal point of the email to MFC / post on here was that you accept the standard you walk past / tolerate.  The surface at GP has been in decline over the whole summer on a/c of a lack of water due to a deficient / defective sprinkler system (and no hand watering to compensate).   It IS a clear hazard to anyone training on it.  So the answer to (a) is clearly of course not and there was nothing inferred along those lines.  The answer to (b) may well be noticed (?), possibly, actioned (?), seemingly not........  You're not short on arrogance...

I actually hate gardening and anything related to it, but I thought the standard of Goschs was quite good, Misson wouldn't let them anywhere near it if he thought it was substandard, there are plenty of other patches of grass to train on if they needed to remediate it

If you head down there and have a look at the river end centre half forward position you'll see the area I'm concerned about.    It is bare in patches.
