I have this feeling in the Pit of my gut that the Blues might actually beat us back into being a decent team.

Richmond were well behind us and went pass us with not too much trouble the Blues may well do the same.

I had that very feeling when Malthouse started at Carlton.

At present I'm not so sure 'old dee' but as you say, we've been here before.

I think the young talent on our list is way ahead of the Blues at this stage. They really only have one young gun I rate, Cripps.

I hope we add to our young brigade this year as we've had to mix and match to get a spread across our list and cover the dearth of experience bringing in Cross, Vince and 'H'.

The Saints & Dogs have been able to go for pure young talent and back it up with their own senior players who have experience playing in successful sides and this should not be undersold.

We've had to import and it's hurt us a lot. I don't think even Roos understood the depth of the damage that had been done.

Our club has been so poorly managed in the past, it's a disgrace what was allowed to happen at the MFC...

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.
