Mate, is this an original? Sig worthy stuff :)

Mate all of my stuff is original, unless you think it's crap, then I pinched it from someone else.

Really happy with our pick ups, particularly our later picks.

I was a bit worried when we traded 23 for Frost thinking st kilda called our bluff but I'd much rather ANB and oscar on our list than evans and barry.

Perfect storm...Petracca, Brayshaw, Neal-Bullen, Stretch and McDonald

Add Frost, Lamumba, Newton & Gartlett

WOW .

Plus Goodwin.

WOW WOW WOW

And McCartney.

The best development coach in the league.

This trade/draft period has been off the charts.

Thank you Paul Roos. And Peter Jackson.

Let's not underestimate the acquisition of mcartney as a development coach, major piece to the puzzle imo

Of course we would have; it didn't stop many on here from thinking the trade of pick 2 & 3 on it's own for 'Danger' was a good deal though.

I would have done it then and would give Brayshaw and Petracca to Adelaide now for Dangerfield (or J.Kennedy from Sydney)

.. the point is moot though, it seems the deal was 3+12+23.. so Brayshaw+Trengove+Frost

Not necessarily.

Look no further than that old chestnut in Ollie Wines. Exploded in his first year. After his second year he is now listed by potential draftees as someone to look up to and base their game around. He was a manchild, just like Brayshaw and Petracca.

Miles at Richmond. Admittedly in his third year but had only played 10 games at GWS before he arrived at the Tigers and dragged them into the finals.

Bontempelli was a first year sensation who quite literally won games off his own boot. He didn't need years in the system to have an impact or provide a strong indication as to where he sits on the spectrum.

O'Meara in his debut season averaged 22 disposals and kicked 16 goals. Whose game enough to rule out Petracca reaching similar heights?

None of our first year players may reach this level, but there's no way you can discount them doing so.

If you have the big frame to compete against men, you give yourself a fighting chance.

good post

add to it the fact that we have a total of FOUR decent midfielders that pick themselves in the side, AB+CP do not have to beat much in order to get plenty of game time in 2015

No, Brayshaw+Trengove+Frost+Alex Neal-Bullen+Oscar Mcdonald

I am an optimist. Every year I find hope in our choices of board members, coaches (did you see what Neeld did at Ocean Grove) and players.

If I did not believe the best well, where would I be, embittered I would think from my contact with far more realistic supporters.

However can I say that spring has sprung.

By any measure quite removed from my delusional fantasies the general "experts" think we are winners.

No speculative choices. Best available.

Joy.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
