A clone of Luke in leadership and courage , if Dylan is around late 3rd round / 4th round I think as a long term prospect with a good few pre-seasons he would be a steal.

Think Dylan’s modest performances probably have a rookie spot as his best chance. There’s very little to go on based on performance, so any club taking him is gambling purely on potential.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see him come back as an overage player next season and give the TAC Cup a crack when his body’s in better knick.

New highlights reel on AFL website

Very late draft pick or more likely rookie chance.

He was injured and couldn't participate in the combine. Has dropped a number of kilos of late to improve his chances. Not quick, but neither is Luke.

"I've seen the highlight and seen him play live enough times. Strong bodied marking forward and strong 1v1 in the marking contest. He just isn't quick. Doesn't find much of it. More improvement is required before he gets a chance I would have thought."

Guaranteed a spot at box hill Hawks next season.

Could be a player after spending a couple of seasons training in the hawthorn system.

Sounds like we should watch him and see if they get his body right and pounce before they do, but no reason to jump in right away. If his surname was anything but Hodge he'd be no chance.

Went to a function a couple of months ago that Dylan spoke at.

I've got no idea whether he can play or not, those highlights above are all I've seen of him.

But he was one of the most impressive kids I've ever come across. Articulate, polite, funny and mature. Obviously got a wise head on young shoulders, just a well brought up country kid.

As an aside he's chosen footy over an extremely promising cricket career having focused on cricket for much of his junior days.

Rookie him.

Got a lot of positives (strength, marking, set shots, disposal) and the negatives can be worked upon (tank, pace, reading the play).

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
