He talks a great talk.

yes he speaks very well for a young lad !!

He is 196 cm. How many players of that size are peaking by 23? And how many of them are notable for "winning their own ball"?

Incidentally, to those of us who go to games his workrate is not questionable.

So have I and so do I!

But he certainly knows how to point!

However I hope he can make it, but I have doubts.

I have on what I consider to be very good mail that Jack has been told he will be actively shopped for a trade. Roos thinks he needs a change of scenery and won't progress at Melbourne. Keep your eyes peeled.

Of course he will . There's very few that Roos will ( in his minds thinking ) keep off the table. Roos will see things holistically ( as it applies a team).Whats good for the greater good may not be Watts

Everyone is a bit harsh on Jack. The amount of criticism he has copped/is copping is ridiculous. There has been so many factors as to why he hasn't yet lived up to his potential, some being his own, but others being how we have developed him.

Robbie gray, was pick 55-60 (pick 56 I think), and at the age of 26, has become an absolute superstar in which people knew he could be. The thing is, he's 26, it took 8 years for that. Once a player is drafted, they're just a player, if Gray was a no.1 pick, like jack was, then he may not have became a superstar. It is important to note that Gray recently credited his improvement to his 2012 knee injury (afl website).

I love jack as a player, if we backed him, showed support, maybe he would florish. Let's keep this in perspective, Watts may not be an inside mid, so why criticise him on a role that he's not suited to? He is a beautiful user of the ball, we want the ball in his hands in space. We start to back these players, especially the ones who want to be there, and we can celebrate the improvement as a team.

The only relevant part is the bit where you say "he hasn't yet lived up to his potential"

Does it in all reality matter why the train is late if your simply wanting it to be on time...its late, that's it. That's the point.

He is where he is, he is what he is and that's unfulfilled potential.

A passer by looks at a corpse and suggest, "you know he'd be alive if only he were breathing !!"

So many want to deal with the ifs , buts and maybes. I just look at what is. He's tradable

See my comment in another thread he has evidently been offered around and there are no takers

ireckon Mouse will. But t/w needs to get under way before it will get interesting. If he stays it will be as you suggest OD...no takers. My my a #1 no one wants !!!! Says it all

I think its more that the club see value in him, but just think that he'd find his potential elsewhere. Given they see the value in him they don't want to get peanuts for him, but because the rest of the AFL haven't seen his worth from the inside, peanuts is all they'll offer.

Yes MFC will make a list management decision with the priority being the players own interests.

If we can put all the vindictiveness aside in respect that Watts has not fulfilled the No 1 mantle, then why would you trade Watts when he has little market value and you trade a skill area that the team is deficient?

He is clearly an outside player who has good vision and is a good user of the ball. Until we develop/recruit better players in this area I cant see us trading Watts for the peanuts he is worth.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
