New coach Paul Roos shocked by Demons' scars

That's the other side of the extreme coin - we were never as good as that day suggested.

Save for Goodes, that Sydney team was terrible and was run over by a team that 'turned up' on the day.

It was an outlier and time and bitter experience has proved it thus.

I agree rpfc I think that was the last hoorah from the old brigade.

After that we decided a number were too old and flung them before the kids had a chance to learn the trade.

When in doubt, kick long to a pack along the MCC members wing! Worked every time! (Or not)

It just left me wanting to choke on my footy record!

Or the patented Dunn torp up the guts. Farce.

Wish we could bring back or clone Phil Rhoden.

Something I can relate to adc. I watched Rhodan at Waverley one day (he was in the twos). He was just about putting them in the centre via drop kick.

I've wondered for ten years how come we are the only club that can never execute this tactic at all. I mean, at all, over a number of coaches, years and players. It defies logic.

we did it so well even morton & bennell fought off bruce, for the honour of most chips received. like a rabble of seagulls fighting for the chip.

no-one wanted the one that's too Hot tho.

I truly hope that Roos's new contested footy, will put the short chip from the defensive square, out of our minds misery.

bring on Contes Ted, into the best 22, they say he's a good'un.

even Wheatley used to do that back around 2005/6 long to the wing. a Mfc mcg trait.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
