Small forward?

We need a Betts/Milne/Ballantyne type to sit at the feet of Hogan, Dawes, Watts and Clark and to make our forward line borderline unstoppable

Betts type - No, Milne type - No, Ballintyne type - Yes

As mentioned Banfield is one that could be looked at by way of a delisted free agent (like how we got Gillies), others who could fill that role and be recruited a similar way as they seem to be out of favour with their clubs are Robin Nahas or Leroy Jetta, both have shown an ability to rotate through the midfield.

Good suggestions. They would both be suitable and I really like what Nahas did last year. It's surprising that he isn't a regular in their team this year. He is probably the most difficult to get out of the Nahas/Jetta/Banfield bunch.

Neither have been able to go through the midfiled and it's part reason why they are playing in the 2's.

As I said to a Richmond mate, they will never win a flag with Nahas and King in the side, like their endevour but they are just not good enough.

Do we need to select any more players who don't add real value.

If we're going to target a small crumbing forward in he VFL Chris Michaliades with Sandringham Zebras is the man for us IMO.

Sadly, Chris Michaliades passed away this week aged 29. He represented the VFL and also played for Port Melbourne.

Shockingly sad news to hear. He was a talented player. Feel for his family and friends.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
