I'll be very disappointed if Dunn is a regular this year. I believe he can't get any better than what we've already seen, so if he's getting a game we either have too many injuries or the new talent (newbies, recycled players and those who have been around for just a year or two, such as Tynan) aren't as good as we need them to be.

And I suspect Jamar will be overtaken by Spencer by the end of the year. No disgrace there - the Russian is just nearing his use by date.

Or it could mean Dunn has improved.

What a weird thing to say.

I understand your point but watching him at training I think he has improved, he looks in good shape and looks like he should be there. Those positions down back are going to be very, very competitive.

Jamar is looking good on the track and marking well, injury interrupted his last season and I would expect him to hold down the number one spot with Spencer and Gawn keeping him honest.

hahaha, could?

I do not know how to respond to this.

I do not know how to respond to this.

it doesn't require one

just my healthy scepticism of dunn...

2 yrs max

I think our midfield is our biggest problem but there has been a bit of grunt and a bit of class added and that will take time.

Our foward line looks solid with 2 monsters and now a few experienced crumbers.

Our backline is solid also with 2 key position players and a few versatile defenders.

The thing I think that could help us is a run and carry defender with a long kick accurate kick.

Strauss.

I think he can cement his spot of a half back flank with this kind of attacking play, if he cant what else can he do?

Big improver this year?

Seen a bit at training, so my pick is Luke Tapscott. Hope to see him as a big impact player.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
