So if we had Nick Reiwoldt in the team, you'd play him in defense because we've got Pedo and an untried 18 year old to play forward? By that logic we should never have moved Wattsy back...

I've already said to you that I don't believe that McDonald has the class or skill level to be a dominant key forward. So you'll hardly find it surprising that I don't see him as a future "Nick Riewoldt".

Happy to differ.

we don't know whether the dees ran 3.000km or the marked out 3.183km

logic says they ran the marked out course. why would they re-measure it?

It wouldn't take long to measure 183m (supposing they measured from the end, to make the course exactly 3k). Either way, 9.22 is an awesome time...15 seconds better than HWFUA ran 12 months ago.

of course anything is possible grimesy but i suspect misson would want comparative figures to measure the boys against the competition

You'd think that a course of exactly 3k would make it easier to compare to other teams though, no? Especially since most teams don't do their time trials at Princes Park.

do you know which teams do their time trials there grimesy?

i got the impression most did but i haven't a clue why i got that impression

After doing a bit of research, it appears that Collingwood is the only Melbourne-based team to not do their time trials at Princes Park. It also appears that most other teams do run the 3.2km circuit in it's entirety. I still can't find anything saying Melbourne runs the 3.2kms, though... everything I read says 3kms.

Given that Misson would want to compare it back against the previous clubs he's worked at (including Sydney who wouldnt have done their time trails at Princess Park), it makes perfect sense that we are using a standardised distance rather than the arbitrary 3.183k track.

i don't know why you think the sense of your argument is perfect. but i'll put that down to a figure of speech

why sydney at 3k and not st,kilda (his last club) at 3.185 and presumably (maybe) the other melbourne clubs

anyway i'm sure misson is more than capable of either adding or subtracting approx 18 seconds

the only way we'll know would be to email the club

There's no way they run 185m in 18 seconds after 3k. It takes Usian Bolt 18 seconds to run 200m fresh, after a run like that, that distance would take 30-40 seconds.

The club sets goals for the players, and the 3km time trial is far more comparable to other teams, than running 3.183kms.

ok lets say 25 or 30 seconds, that's not the issue

i'm not really saying one or the other i can see some logic for both arguments and figures can be adjusted either way

McDonald should be played as key back. I was really disappointed to see him training with the forwards last pre season but I guess that was just a measure of hoe Neeld rated our forwards. He went back and came third in the B and F. We paid significant prices for Clark, Dawes, Hogan and Pedersen forward - we need McDonald down back.

I'm going out on a limb here, but I reckon Tom McDonald will be the next Nick Riewoldt.

He's got the tank to wear a backline into the ground, and in three years time I expect him to do exactly that.

agree, I've always thought TMac could be our leadup CHF in a couple more years.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
