Goddard leaving StKilda is a tragedy for that club, as if Essendon are going to be in a premiership window any time soon, they can't even beat us. The competition is cannibalising itself.

More money 1 extra year contract and a team looking like playing finals I can't see any reason why not leave also think he will be Farley handy at bombers his excellent decision making and ball use is elite exactly what the bombers are missing. As much as I hate the bombers I think it's a great move for him and the club all of course in my opinion

By bringing in Goddard they are saying they want a premiership in the next 4 years... Can't blame them, thats what you want your club to be doing.

Plus in my opinion the Saints will be silently happy to see him go, former number 1 pick who was not motivated to play well in his later years replaced by a first round pick. Win.

The scum were decimated with injuries this year. They were flying up until halfway through the season. Goddard is an elite ball user who brings finals experience. He is a great get and frankly I'd be surprised not to see them make the 8 next year.

Saints on the other hand could be about to slide back to a position on the ladder with which they are all too familiar, losing quality veterans like BJ and talented youngsters like Cripps who looks set for the West.

Potentially we are looking at a period where the have and have nots become firmly entrenched.

I think Bombers and Blues who seem to be looking to stock up with Goddard and maybe Tippet will be exposed to raids by us on other (under paid) players in their squads.

Arrogance and a bloated sense of entitlement always lead to an over extension (a.k.a Brissie a couple of years back with Fev).

We just need to keep our powder dry for the moment.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
