Casey Scorpions v Sandringham

Players eligible for the 2012 finals series:-

Lucas Cook, Tom Couch, Troy Davis, Jack Fitzpatrick, Jordan Gysberts, Jai Sheahan, Jake Spencer, Josh Tynan and Leigh Williams.

The full list of players from all clubs participating in the VFL finals is interesting - Finals Eligibility - AFL Players.

Melbourne's spate of season-ending injuries to the likes of Jamie Bennell, Michael Evans, Cale Morton and Ricky Petterd (all qualified to play finals) and with Liam Jurrah taking leave of absence and Kelvin Lawrence returning to Perth has made things difficult for Brett Lovett at Casey.

By way of contrast, Geelong has 22 players eligible while both North Melbourne aligned clubs North Ballarat have more AFL eligible players than does Casey. Essendon's affiliate Bendigo Gold has 17 Bombers on its list despite their injury list.

KC - is Cook doing anything remarkable?

KC - is Cook doing anything remarkable?

Don't even know if he's in the seniors or in the early game. I'm just passing on the scores ATM.

Won't be at the ground for another ½ to ¾ of an hour.

Casey Scorpions 4.3.27 5.3.33 7.10.52 8.12.60

Box Hill Hawks 0.0.0 2.5.17 7.7.49 9.15.69

Box Hill Hawks Johns 4 Cassidy  Hughes  Monkhorst Otten Phelps

Best

Casey Scorpions Patti Pollard Cleven Fieldsend Cook Weekes

Box Hill Hawks Lock Gordon Northe Tobin Johns Cassidy

Is it just me, or is our midfield of Jamar, Moloney, Gysberts and Magner just as strong as our MFC centre square?

Sure hope no AFL listed player is on Hallahan, because that was very lazy defensive work.

Loving watching Jack Fitz play today. Looks like a genuine tall forward. Hope he keeps developing.

The big fella is going well.

The big fella is going well.

Needs a haircut though. Neeld strikes me as a man who would appreciate short back and sides.

Quarter Time: Sandringham 4.4.28 to Casey Scorpions 2.0.12

Goals to Fitzpatrick and Gent.

Scorps held them well until a few late goals gave the Zebs the break. The boys need to use the breeze well this quarter.

Stats leaders: Collins 14, L.Tynan, Sheahan 8, Magner, Gysberts 7, Bate 6.

Cook played in the Development League?

Not good.

Chin up. At least we didn't get Brent Prismall.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
