Helmet Cam at training

Interesting bit of footage up on the MFC website from a helmet cam worn by Tom McDonald at training. Looks to have been spliced together a bit, but it would appear that they are working on drills that don't involve the safe long kick to the boundary option.

That would be nice.

It said in the article that the camera was attached to sunglasses. It would be pretty uncomfortable training in sunglasses, IMO. Cool idea though.

Oh look something innovative, interesting and outside of the box that MFC is doing, surely not, we can't have that, stop it

Some innovation. I am not quite sure what it brings but I guess the coaching staff have some idea.

I also found it interesting that Tom McDonald was the man, or at least the first to have his footage go public. I suspect that they see his as someone important looking ahead.

As an aside I would like him to get some time at CHF later in the season, hopefully after the mids start getting some clearances - could have a future there.

PS: From the header, I thought that some new famous German guy, Helmut Cam, was at training :-)

Anyone have thoughts on his kicking technique? I know very little about the technical side of things like that, so it would be interesting to see if anyone can see what he's doing wrong in that footage.

Pretty cool footage - especially when he takes a mark.

Agree. I love seeing the ball coming in like that. Really interesting perspective.

will be in the leadership group in a couple of years. very level headed and speak really well and shows maturity well beyond his years.

I took part in a tour of the MFC facilities followed by a function all hosted by Chris Connolly. He brought up his name about 6 times, as the club highly rates him and is excited about the prospects of our back 6

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
