Melbourne players in Grand final revue

Featured Replies

I sometimes despair for this forum. One poster confesses to messing his underpants, another obsesses over a player frontal region firepower (whatever that is) and now another is fixated over a horses genitalia.......................and the drafting silly season hasn't even started.......sheesh, I'm getting confused and the price of bananas is still over $10

I like to see the player review every year because for me it reminds me of the old year 12 assemblies that used to go on at my school when it was their last assembly before VCE exams. It's just meant to be light hearted fun poking at each other. It was great to see them all enjoying themselves and not taking themselves too seriously. That said there were two criticisms i had:

1. Too many professional dancers (particularly male). Fine back them up with a few to make them look better, but half the time there were so many performers on stage I didn't know if I was looking at a player or a pro.

2. More of a criticism of the St Kilda players, SERIOUSLY HOW THICK ARE YOU!!! You must have the combined IQ of a five year old if you couldn't realise the connections that would be made, and if you did then you're even dumber than that. Channel 9 knew exactly what they were doing when they put that routine to the saints players.

LOL!! Welcome to the Internet daisycutter.

And I usually just go to the self service counters and put bananas through as onions.. do I care? NO- I like bananas in my milkshakes and they rip the farmers off, so karma!

Yeah, it's like the choreographers take over and take it too seriously, completely losing sight of what the audience want - to see AFL footballers joke around and make fools of themselves, or at least see a bit of their personality outside of the sterile football environment.

Instead it's flooded with professional dancers and way too serious routines.

Even the sequences with Newman and Crawford went for too long.

I couldn't care less about them - I want to see current players.

The MFC players spent the 2nd half of their dance hidden at the back of the stage with 2 professionals dancing it up infront of them.

No one wants to see that.

I was happy to see JT dancing as he did. I have met him several times and he is becoming more confident every time. I would never have picked him to be so accomplished in the media when I met him the first time.

Having spoken to him he has also stated many of the young players are good friends and spend a lot of time together, so I dont think there is any chance the culture/ atmosphere is affecting him and most of the young blokes.

On the "Review", I think they take it too seriously (in terms of the choreographers). They need to have more fun, and have the players impersonating people or doing more simple and funny acts.

In regards to the back up dancers, there are probably too many, but I cant say I am disappointed seeing really good dancers dance, they are generally quite good to look at!
