You have no real basis to make that judgment.

None whatsoever.

Just following up Gareth on why you seem to think we should poach Mark Neeld, if you don't agree with my opinion of our current assistants.

Cheers.

I hope Royal was only placed on a 1 year contract so he can be shown the door after an outburst like last weekend.

Bad news. Some person at the club thought it would be a brilliant idea to sign him for 3 years. Im blaming Schwab as CEO I remember reading that West is out of contract and it said in the same article that Royal was signed for 3. So after this season we have him for another 2 years.

If Richmond need that as motivation then thats pretty sad. I dont agree with him saying we were certanties to win but saying your confident, well there is nothing wrong with that. I mean he isnt going to say no on our form im not to confident.

Follow up all you like.

Obviously not sharp enough to see the distinction between rating one coach based on experts' opinions, and writing off another coach on little or no evidence.

Congratulations.

He isnt and its a massive overreaction. The game was lost on other factors.

I am not sure supporters can rationally judge whether assistant coaches are actually doing their job well or not or even whether Royal is or isnt doing a good job. At the time we were recruiting an assistant coach it is not unusual that he be offered reasonable security of tenure. And 12 months definitely isnt that

Also stands to reason that his contract would contain get-out clauses for both parties, possibly related to a change of head coach.

Outragious - saw Lenny Hayes on The Footy Show last night - said the Saints will win - Sack Him !!!

it was a shocking comment, he was so adamanent in his comments.

Its one thing to outwardly say 'We'll win' and its another to say ' I think We can do the job today'...WTF

Can someone please explain to me why Royal's comment was so, so dreadful? I'm yet to read anything in this thread that makes me think anything other than WGAF.

Damien Hardwick mentioned that Royal was on SEN a few days before the game and said that it was a "certainty" the Dees would beat the Tigers.

Richmond used it as ammunition against us.

Silly thing to say on a public forum by Royal.

Forget about him, we got rid of the guy a few years ago then we get him back! Don`t know who`s more stupid him or the club!

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
