Jurrah the Sub?

Featured Replies

He was actually a bit crook last week, but is fine now and raring to go. He's looking forward to playing alongside Jamar.

I told him to tell the Russian to keep out of his way..ha, ha

I'm sure Jamar would make a nice step ladder if Liam needed it.

Anyone still think he should have been rested today?? Loved the way he kicked his last goal ....gold!!

No thanks. I prefer my Liam Jurrahs kicking goals all day long, not just in the last quarter.

Well I was wrong. All I can say is would've been a better sub than Morton! Except by that stage we'd be 10 goals down.

A really great change of game style by Liam. Very unselfish, very team oriented football. LJ, Petterd, Watts and Green today were a mile away from the rubbish served up earlier in the year by our forwards (although their opponents were C grade and the deliver at times A grade).

Good inside information about LJ been sick last week, its things like this you don't know when selecting a team on a forum.

Now he just has to get his kicking boot back. What a great effort today and all those unnoticed efforts that resulted in a turnover. So pleased for Liam.

Really, really great turnaround today. He doesn't need much to get back into form does he? I think he might have had close to 20 touches playing further up the ground and was lurking or doing chasedowns all day, as well as the sealer at the end.

Impressed.

Well that will hopefully keep quiet those who want him dropped or subbed.

Even when he's not at his best, and he still isn't, we are best served with him in the side.

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Sunday’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
