Yes, interesting when about 18 months ago i thought the idea of inviting Martin Pike down to the Club to talk to our new recruits for a couple of hours would be a great idea.

Certain well known Demonlanders Howled me down mercilleslly for that one!!!

Martin Pike won 4 Premiership Medallions after he left the MFC. Pity we didn't mentor him properly rather than saying it was "all too Hard"!!!!

Still think he would be a good bloke to speak to our list, he almost lost his career & then climbed right back to the top again.

Yep, I sat in the outer a couple of years back for a game against the lions, and I was loud and proud. One Woman was giving it to the umpires and the opposition,,,, when this overly pompous Dees woman told her to sit down nicely and keep quiet. I told her off for trying to hush our supporters and said to her that she should go back to the MCC and leave the real supporters do their job.

Jimma was there in this Bay as was Seecamp & baby son.

We got up and did the Job.

Notice The Kangaroos have selected last years deaft pick Harper for his first game and other clubs such as Adelaide have played Brodie Smith, Brisbane - Polec, Carlton - Watson & Duigan , Essendon Heppell and of course all the Suns new faces etc etc. We have used Tapscott, Trengove, Scully & Gysberts from two years ago and they have all stood up, but nothing from last years draft. How come other clubs throw them in and toughen them up and we don't?

Listening to the comments all day on SEN was absolutely heartbreaking. We are seen as a joke. The football team has made the Club a laughing stock of the league. If we do not beat Adelaide and take a stand we will be seen by the rest of the league as the easybeats - move over "Suns". I want to hear more than mere platitudes from Dean Bailey. I want to hear and feel that the whole team is devastated. Comments from Jones and Garland and seeing the look on Nathans face when the siren went tells me that at least he is ashamed. This afternoon Dr.Turf and the Ox said that Bailey said in 2008 that the Club needed to replicate Geelong's game plan but Geelong has since said that they needed to change their game plan to compete with the likes of Coll ....(I cant even type it)They both agreed that Melbourne hasn't changed their "Game plan" For Greeny to say publicly that the way to beat the press is to kick over their heads. Did someone forget to tell the forwards that they need to be there when the kick comes or at least attempt to be there. FFS DO SOMETHING

The Cats are giving an updated twist to their gameplan as they're keeping the olde guys for one more try. So they are just doing a little refurbish. They still have the players for a tilt, so it woyuld be foolish to do a major transplant. They're time will come to do this.

We are on a pathway to 2013 !!!

The Collingwood style will ahve changed by then, so why not keep the traditional style then adapt as we need to. The reduced interchange, is still changing the gamestyles this year, so it's too soon to say exactly where that will settle.

I think we'll start to see players put on a bit more weight next year and with some longer kicking and even more high marking. Bigger players to return, maybe.

This is the very thing that Jim has fought so hard to get rid of ie the them and us division in the Club. We all support the Club in one way or another. Just because someone is louder than someone else doesn't mean we dont all bleed the same way for the Club.

It's almost like we're a young developing team whose senior players aren't standing up.

It's interesting to note who the people are who care so much about what other supporters think of the MFC.

No that cannot be true can it!

Settle Down Long Suffering...What happened last night is not all bad, as long as the Club acts in the right manner...Who cares what other people say about our club, as long as our supporters stick fat & don't let all this passion just fade away...

Turn the Radio off at least once an hour..

Sorry WYL I think you are in self defence mood.

I want the football world to hate us because we are mean, tough and successful.

Ignoring it does not change anything.

"Mean, tough and successful"

Any Potential coach that does not understand that need not apply IMO

You are correct LS but we do suffer to much in silence.

Even other supporters see us as soft and polite.

I have lots of friends and relatives who get into me constantly about it.

the comment gets said constantly, I had a sms at half time last night.

" why do you support that soft mob of toffs with no heart"

I know exactly what you mean, and i too want the MFC to be Loathed & Hated, But Today is all about you keeping up your energy and not getting too depressed mate.

SEN and the papers thrive on days like today....don't listen to too much is all i mean.

Jim Stynes is still the President & his words have not changed..With each Project certain things must be adjusted at times. We have come to that point.

As long as it is done right, that is what we supporters must expect and in reality demand.

Its hard not to get depressed and [censored] off as we've had 4 years of it now. I keep telling my mates it will turn around but FFS this is giving me the sh#ts.

Hey i totally agree with you mate, but listening to SEN belting us all day will not help the situation!!!! This is when supporters need to stick close.

It's why we must have a big turn out for our next game, otherwise we will be Crucified on radio.

"Melbourne Playing at their Real Home, but nobody is there" The Fat Controller would not be pleased.

You are correct however believe me I have a thick skin ( you need one to be a Dees member ) I will survive.

I can remember how it felt in the 60,s to be hated because we were great I desperately want that feeling back.

Yes, and i think it is the supporters who have to find that feeling and give it back to the club!!

We have to get hard on this club to make it work hard. For too long the club has meandered along and we have accepted it all Quietly..

NO MORE.

That is the attitude that must be defeated O.D. We need a big Turn out to put the Heat on.

Bails must Put up & the week after that.

I will be there but have no confidence that will mean much.

My too regular buddies are claiming Mothers day duties.

so that means two thirds of my regular group will not be there.

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
