Hey Guys

It's nothing major, but was just in the AFL store in chadstone today, and purchased one of the new unofficial melbourne singlets (not made by nb) it had our new logo and looks great! but more importantly i was forced to buy the last one there which was on the dummie. So i asked the store manager how they have been selling, he said "unbelievably" while every other team looked like they had barely been touched. It's only minor, but just another sign of the clubs growth, and our supporters coming out of their shells. I can't think of a time where melbourne merchandise was the only one sold out.

Maybe i'm looking to far into things, or pre season is taking its toll. BUT anything positive is good enough for me.

Agreed. But good to hear in any case

The UNofficial mfc singlet?

The club would make no $ off that merchandise if that is the case. No?

sold at the AFL store?

This doesn't add up for me...

mate, i completely agree with you, but im going away on thurs and the training singlets aren't in. I've called manytimes hoping it would change. But representing the club overseas is jsut as good as the 25 bucks they would of got

Hate to be the pessimist, but stores will order stock relative to how many they expect to sell. I know some retailers (Kmart) did not even order MFC clothing this year, only the big Melbourne clubs.

No... not just as good, but better than the alternative available to you at the time.

I have one of the official training singlets from the club website.

It's brilliant.

if it has the club emblem then it must be official even if not nb, no?

pretty sure it is copyrighted, so club would get a cut

i took that into account, and asked him, he said they got the same amount for every club.

They come from China and they go straight into their bank account to fund their nasty Fusbal habit.

The AFL are pretty strict on who uses their logo's, and would be straight onto anything that is not official, especially from an AFL shop. I'd say you are correct and they are official. Maybe someone else has a licence to manufacture non playing tops for all AFL clubs.

Give me some credit rpfc, i do understand that but the OP said "was just in the AFL store in chadstone today" so I presumed it was an up front legit store in a major shopping centre not some market

If they are selling counterfeit at the AFL store in Chadstone then MFC's lawyers should get onto it pronto

AFL (and AFL clubs) do have 2nd and 3rd tier approved apparel manufacturers you know

Geez fellas, I love a robust discussion as much as the next bloke, but this is a thread about a guy buying a singlet yeah?

more that our merchandise is selling more then other clubs, which is a first, especially considering its christmas time

To many supporters buying a singlet is just as important as buying a membership.

More important even.

Because when you buy a singlet, you get a singlet. But when you buy a membership, you don't get a singlet.

You wouldn't say that if you were a real supporter...

Yeah, missed the Chaddy bit.

Sorry about that.

But to answer the question of what cut we get from the AFL store - it ain't much.

Like a gold coin on a $25 item...

You are obviously not an accountant

(nor a politician even though you live in Canberra)

I'm not really that surprised; Chadstone is right in the demon supporting heartland of Bentleigh, Oakleigh and Ormond. I'm sure they would have a rather healthy turnover of dees merchandise at any time.

Can anyone report on how the gear is selling at Knifepoint or Norflands? A similar result to Chaddy would be worth getting excited about!

Why? Besides extreme political correctness of course?

how can i when you he repeated it in your his reply

anyway i have scottish blood

edit: oops wrong poster. anyway I amended it

Well you can't buy MFC merch at Highpoint so probably not that well.
