DRAFTIN' TIME!

Featured Replies

you mean Howe, not Cook, right Ralph?

At least these blokes have a chance of better nicknames.

Howie will be a cult player.

Really quite happy with what we ended up with.

And when Lucas Cook says his uncle used to play for the doggies, that would make his uncle...

I like the players we drafted it seems we are getting players in that can cover and compete for the same spots. When you broke our list down we lacked tall forwards we draft 3 that add options and depth to this area. If you look at our list now it has a good balance

Tall Forwards: Watts, Cook, McDonald, Fitzpatrick, Newton

Mid to Tall Forwards: Jurrah, Dunn, Petterd, Bate, Green, Howe

Small Forwards: Aussie, Tapscott, Maric, Bennell

Midfielders: Scully, Trengove, Gysberts, Sylvia, Bail, Blease, Jones, Moloney, Mckenzie, Morton, Jetta, Davey

Ruck: Jamar, Martin, Spencer, Gawn

Mid Defenders: Grimes, Macdonald, Strauss, Bartram

Tall Defenders: Rivers, Garland, Warnock, Frawley, Davis

A number of the players can play different roles but I put them where I think they will mainly play. We have 6 rookie picks taking a couple mid size defenders, a couple of midfielders and a ruckman and another tall we really balanace our list.

Looking at that list gives me great confidence.

We look pretty much set across all areas.

Probably could use 1 awesome half back flanker + another couple of midfielders + a lightening quick small forward and we're pretty much set. Maybe 1-2 more ruckman to develop off the rookie list.

But none of these needs are in any way urgent

Chris from Camberwell is a total classic!!! he always asks about 13 questions before anybody else can speak!! HaHaHa-but he does know his stuff.

Well, I don't know about that. But he's keen and he's polite and he has a distinctive voice.

You obviously did not hear him late last night after i had written that post, he was very excited on SEN. It's great B)

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
