Neither James McDonald nor Cameron Bruce played in the 2000 grand final anyway.

Junior was recovering from a knee reconstruction and Cam was injured the week before and wasn't available to play.

and from the team of 2000 , given tj and simmonds all gone

As unfortunate that it is that Cam Bruce was not prepared to accept the one year offered to him, his departure draws a line under what we became in our recent history.

Further, the way he departed is indicative of a culture which had built up among many of the "senior" group.

The reason Brad Green is still around, is that he was able to change.

He went through his "defining" moment, when negotiating his last contract. Because he was prepared to put the future of the club - which he obviously wanted to be a part of - ahead of a giant salary (he still gets paid well, but not what he wanted), he stands an excellent chance of being part of our next premiership team. Cam Bruce might have had the same chance, if he had been wiling to accept the one year offer.

He said "from both sides" in the OP before editing it.

yes he did thank you haha i got back to the post a bit late.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
