But the Eagles only have to do it once.  Just one time.

I'm flat out picking Eagles. You can't NOT in my position. They really could win. In with a shot despite the Belly and Brady thing. The fact it's against the greatest coach and player of all time. Who beat the Eagles in the superbowl ten years ago. In the context of injuries galore and coming from last in the NFC East the year before. It's too dramatic and magical not to get swept up in.

It's an exciting time ... however,  your team has been high in contention from the get-go.  The Packers made a late run at it in 2010/11 so it was a constant 'lose-or-go-home attitude.  It was only when we got to the SB that I genuinely believed we could win it.  And we beat a great team (Pittsburgh) to cap it all off.

The Foles thing has been the red-herring.  No one was foreseeing what has transpired.  That's the magical bit.  Written off as a questionable stand-in,  Foles can be the hero.

True. From about week 5 or so when they were 4-1 having only lost to KC everyone was positive. Then they beat the Panthers and from there it's been superbowl run this and superbowl run that.

I do remember that year. Matter of fact that was the year I fell in love with the Eagles, watching Vick. And who did you beat in Wild Card week? In those days Rodgers wasn't yet the mythical superstar he is now. I was actually living in the states and was a bit like you, once they got there it seemed like it was theirs... in the leadup though, they were just another wild card team.

Foles is a funny one for Eagles faithful. A lot of people got on his bandwagon when he started for us cos of the ridiculous numbers in his breakout year. Most knew he didn't have that killer instinct... and had some holes in his game. After he was booted, Philly sports radio has laughed at him for two years and how bad he was under Fisher. Even when he was signed as backup most had a giggle. When he took over from Wentz, the naysayers pretty much all still wrote him off. His biggest critic ate his words this week... but maintains that Foles isn't a superstar. And that the game he played last weekend shouldn't be expected with any regularity. As much as we're singing his praises... it WAS just one good game. People were ready to crown Keenum as the Vikings starter for next season until he laid an egg against the Eagles. Now he's back in the pack again. I'm confident if Foles throws three picks, people will most certainly let him fade back into quarterback obscurity.

Surely you wouldn't listen to that when there's heaps of streaming radio stations.

I’m now a casual so I’m hoping to work, which means I should be home to watch it at 2pm.

Gotta try and avoid the scores tho ?

lol

Cousins out, Smith in. The money they paid for Smith could have been spent on Kirk a couple of years ago and they'd have a younger, better QB. Muppets.

Zebras can get [censored] - one penalty against the Pats (on a punt return). Clearly they never hold. Cheats were also smiling after a Pats TD - they don't even try to hide it.

I have an awful feeling I'm going to be cutting and pasting this in a few days.

Here's the annual Super Bowl Prop Bets Podcast with Bill Simmons & Cousin Sal

The podcast starts off with a story about a very interesting encounter that Bill Simmons had earlier in the week and they then discuss many of the 140 prob bets.

I haven't listened to the majority of the podcast yet but it's usually good for a laugh.

I really should be picking the Pats to win as that's who I would pick if I had to put money on the game.  But to make it interesting and because I really would like the Eagles to win I'll go for an historic Philadelphia victory.

Eagles 24  Pats 21

Gronk to score first TD.

Cox or Ertz MVP.

Brady to throw an interception and get sacked twice.

Ajayi to score twice.

Sooo... to even have a chance of winning the picks I have to take Pats. Which is what I feel is THE pick. I reckon 60% chance they win, 40% chance Eagles win.

In a dome so it'll be very very high scoring. Eagles have enough weapons, and Brady will torch Eagles' secondary.

Pats 42 Eagles 37

Here is the 'Proper' Super Bowl Prop Bets Podcast (with Bill Simmons & Cousin Sal)

Out of the tipping race but I'll tip anyway!

Eagles 24 Pats 23

What I'm hoping for Eagles down 29 - 3 & win :P

Working til 1 tomorrow so wont get home til near 2. So good luck dappa!!!

Speak aftet I've watched the replay.

The latest 30 for 30 (The Two Bills) is worth a look in preparation for the SB ... it may not be up for long but being a doco,  it could be.

Tells the story of the unique relationship between Bill Parcells & Bill Belichick ...

Yeah good luck @Dappa Dan

The Eagles can win but they can't afford any costly errors against these Patriots.   The game isn't over till it's over either.

Can't give up a 5 yard penalty in the redzone against the Pats ... excellent drive by the Eagles & Foles but only 3 points.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
