Romo out til mid season with a broken bone in his back.

Terrible news.

Gees his had an injury riddled couple of years... Dak Prescott has looked good in the pre season whether he can take that into the regular season or not...

Yeah, he's been quite impressive by all accounts ... regardless, that division (NFC East) is always a total mystery anyway.

Any team can win it but Dallas will miss Romo ... I picked them to win the division but I'll stick with the tip because they've probably still got just as good a chance to win it as the other 3 teams.

Be interesting to see how the Eagles go with their new QB (Wentz)

Been moving house so haven't been able to keep up with everything. Romo hurt again is not much of a shock. Is weeden still their back up? I'll post my predictions during the week as of now I think Oakland, Pittsburgh, and the Jets will be good and those packers look fit and firing again. Vikes O line is still a mess so I'm not so confident this year.

I'm owed some hours so I've arranged to have the Monday of week one off.

Happy lad!!

Happy days!!! I've got my annual sick day planned for the first Monday & leave for the following Monday... After that the Falcons season will be over so I'll enjoy the 2 weeks while they last

I don't think our season will even get off the ground.

Not long to go now ... final practice games on Thursday night and then we're into it.

In the meantime I'll post up all the playoff game highlights from last season ... 2 games at a time for the next week and a half.  The links will take you to youtube where you can full-screen the highlights.

Chiefs @ Texans AFC Wildcard

Steelers @ Bengals AFC Wildcard

Given San Fran is probably the worst side in it this year, my main interest is in watching some of the traditionally weaker sides improve and push for playoffs - I'm thinking Jets, Jaguars and Bills.

Bridgewater done with a possible ACL at practice. Anyone got a spare QB I could borrow?

Ouch, thats awful. Don't stress your back up QB will still probably be better than all three of ours.

Not good...I saw Denver contacted Dallas after Romo went down for a possible Mark Sanchez trade, maybe he could be an option

Oh yeah.  I remember him...

In his defence we didn't have any wise recievers or an O line...

Now we have an Oline I think....

Don't tell me that Gorgoroth... If they finish higher than us I'll be sick! Reckon they'll finish last in the NFC South

I find it hard to write off the saints.

No rational reason why. Brees can win you games you shouldn't.

I'd forgotten about the Bengals blowing that game against the Steelers ... post #3983 in case you missed it.  Anyway, here's the other 2 wildcard games ...

Rotten news mate ... I was expecting Teddy to take it to another level this season too.

Yeah I know it was only pre season but all of his plays were downfield throws of 20+ yards. The plan was to throw deep and run with AP opening up big plays with the play action passing game. This year will remind of the Christian Ponder era where we pass the ball not for yards but just to give AP a rest.

Aaaaaaaaaand Goff is number three on the starting QB.

Sigggggghhhhhhhhhhh

From memory these arrangements often start out this way but any change could happen quite quickly if the outcomes don't come up to expectations.

Win early and Goff has to wait ... but if you lose games early then Goff may well get fast-tracked.

You think ? Mannion took majority of snaps today. Game 4 of pre season is a joke, it's literally a game 90% filled with players who will wind up on the practise squad... Jags held out 28 players from the Falcons game!

After completing 3 of 4 passes for 53 yards on the opening drive, he was a disturbing 3 of 12 for 14 yards with two turnovers on the final seven first-half possessions.

The Rams' quarterback of the future finished his first preseason 22 of 49 (44.9 percent) for 232 yards (4.73 yards per attempt), two touchdowns, two interceptions, three fumbles and a 55.8 passer rating.

Perhaps most telling, Goff has shown little awareness -- struggling with snaps, taking too many hits and failing to process at NFL speeds.

Only hope Fisher gets the sack week 2...

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
