Bloody Giants... Ruined my hopes! Oh well can't rely on other teams winning and losing to get into the playoffs, we had more then our chances especially at 5-0! One game left looking forward to the playoff race and then the playoffs.. Haven't decided which team to adopt yet!

Didn't help that the Giants had nothing to play for and Beckham was out ... all the same, the Vikings probably would have won anyway. Bridgewater was very good and for most of the year they've been a very honest, consistently good team.

Next week at Lambeau is an interesting scenario considering the loser possibly gets the easier wild-card game (at Washington) Seattle could rest a few starters against Arizona as a win for them would be hard fought and not entirely necessary. They might have already decided that the 6 seed will suffice.

Week 17 games ... all to play for this week with 3 points on offer.

Finding 3 obvious road winners in week 17 could be a little difficult. You'd reckon that the teams that have to win, will win but ... all the games are divisional games so there's sure to be some close finishes.

Anyway, good luck to all.

Since I in front I think this three points in the last round is a terrible idea... Ha ha

Yeah, the good news is you will win gold or silver so ... at least you won't win another bronze

Looking at the week, there's any number of potential road winners but none that could be called absolute certainties. A number of teams could rest their starters too - week 17 always throws up some surprises.

It's probably the most interesting week 17 for quite a while in terms of how the playoff seedings could change (especially the 1 & 2 seeds in both conferences)

Got no idea who to tip this week. I think Minnesota might bust balls to get a win even though as macca pointed out it gives us Seattle instead of Washington. Washington and Seattle might bludge this week. I'll take St.Louis because if they lose to San Fran after beating Seattle a certain Rams fan on here might lose his mind. Good luck to you all.

Detroit

Pittsburgh

St.Louis

3 head coaches fired so far - Eagles, Titans, Dolphins.

Cleveland will be next.

Then we wait and see on Detroit, Indiana, St Louis, San Diego. San Fran, Can't rule out New Orleans. Plus the Giants.

Cowboys apparently won't change.

I'll go with 8 teams looking for a new permanent coach by the end of the week. Could be more. Brutal.

And we have a winner in the tipping comp!

Congratulations Gorgoroth and well played ... in the end, you needed your own team to lose in order for you to win (go figure) ... that Rams/49ers game going to O/T to decide things added to the drama! ... 'cfh' was that close

Anyway, well played to all the participants ... any of the notables could have won in the last week.

If we get enough takers, we can do another post-season comp as well ... "traditionally" we've added the potential scorelines in the post season - a tradition initiated by 'pantaloons'. The post season comp gives 1 point to any winner (home or away) with 3 points on the line for the Super Bowl.

Final Tally (notables only)

Congrats Gorgoroth, bittersweet tho, those Rams continue to frustrate the [censored] out of you! Tomsula sacked by the 49ers, they don't mess around in the NFL one year and out (if only we did this with neeld) Tomsula never really seemed to be head coach material. Packers struggling atm, there offense is a shadow of its once great self... Not sure what the Falcons do in the off season but they must do something, Matt Ryan had his worst season when he should have been in his prime, throwing interceptions left, right & centre... They can't afford to let him go due to contract but him and Shanahan must get the offense right in the off season

Can I get "World champion NFL Demonland tipper" as a official signature? ?

Cheers guys, love this tipping comp.

def in post season one.

Surely with the loss to the Niners they have to sack fisher, surely.

I long for the day of a competent QB and head coach.

I even wore my rams hat today... Flogging Rams!!!

Vikings far too good and are fully deserved division winners ... Packers were terrible though and it was a miracle that we were still in the game at the finish.

So, the Vikes now host Seattle and Green Bay go to Washington ... in the end, a Vikings win means they face a hot Seattle and the Packers would probably rather face Washington more so than Minnesota (even though the Washington game is on the road)

I'd be surprised if we could defeat Washington all the same ... as JV7 mentioned above, we are a shadow of our former selves. There's is no real continuity to our game mainly because our wide receivers and tight ends can't create separation even on a semi-consistent basis. It's been an issue all season which hasn't got any better. Rodgers is more often than not out of the pocket looking for someone to throw it to (often to no avail)

Still, we're in the playoffs and as we've seen on a number of times previously, anything can happen in January in the NFL.

In other news the Jets blew their playoff chances whilst the Steelers could cause some damage in the AFC. The Pats drop to the 2 seed with an untimely loss whilst Denver may well have dropped to the 3 seed (without a week off) but now find themselves in the 1 seed position with home field all the way through to and including the AFC Championship game (if they make it that far)

Next week's playoff games (AEDT)

Sunday 8.20am - Kansas City @ Houston

Sunday 12.15pm - Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati

Monday 5.00am - Seattle @ Minnesota

Monday 8.40am - Green Bay @ Washington

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
