Macca 17,127 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Got every right to be happy there, Gorgoroth - big win against a big opponent. Plus, you picked up a vital point in the comp! But how 'bout those Cowboys Packers!! What a win - great 2nd half by the Pack and Flynn did an excellent job. 26-3 down it looked all over. Tony Romo helped, of course - these interceptions he has are almost predictable now. If Rodgers gets back, Green Bay have a chance. What a crazy League. Bengals losing now means the Ravens control their own destiny if they can win out (in terms of winning the division) Just as long as Baltimore win tomorrow, 'Strafford' - after that, I hope your blokes can hang on. Arizona and Miami keep hangin' around and a number of the big guns had some big wins. The Vikes had a huge win without AP - they could be more than nuisance value in the last 2 weeks. KC racked up 56 points on the road - Wow! The Chiefs have the same win/loss record as Denver - maybe the AFC West isn't quite done yet hey? The Panthers have a chance to go the top of the NFC South next week if they can beat the Saints at home. It's all happening! The last 2 weeks looks like being a frantic finish. Quote
Gorgoroth 13,220 Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Yeah it was a crazy day of games. I kept waiting for the cowboys to ice the game but Romo makes so many mistakes when the pressure dials up. Reid is doing a great job at KC, redskins lose again Giants held scoreless... WTF!?!? Seattle still looking very good. Can't wait til tonight to get home and watch today's game. Quote

Cassel and Jennings have a good thing going. Ah those cowboys. They entertain that's for sure. Why would you throw the ball with the lead and time running out? Run the rock! I don't blame Romo as much as I do the play callers at Dallas. The interceptions are on them as much as Romo. With the eagles losing who I tipped the 'boys should've gone closer to a playoff spot. Also the defense of Dallas is pretty ordinary to give up that much of a lead. Quote

Apparently Romo has a bit of a license to change calls but regardless of all that, his receiver (Beasley) did let him down on that last interception. Macca 17,127 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 The points tally in the comp ... 6 - Strafford 5 - cowboy from hell 4 - pantaloons, Macca 2 - Gorgoroth 1 - DemonDave 0 - 45HG, Norm Smith's Curse, Arrow, bananas 1 point on offer for week 16 with 3 points up for grabs in week 17. Those who can't win can still get a "podium" finish! Week 16 games (the Thursday night games are done) Is anyone going to pick Dallas? Quote
Gorgoroth 13,220 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Romo changed it from a run call. Yes he has license to change it, in that situation tho you would assume he would have stuck with the run... Idiot! Ravens surprised me yesterday, I thought Detroit all the way. Stafford really needs to stop side arming his passes, most end up being poor throws or intercepted. Quote
pantaloons 2,019 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Denver Miami Dallas - foolish, I know KC really can't afford to rest our starters this week, despite a 99% likelihood we will finish 5th. A loss at home to Indy could mean we end up in New England in week 1. Quote

The Rams probably don't need the guys likely to be wanted at the top of the draft. Quote
Gorgoroth 13,220 Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Yeah I was discussing that the oer day with a mate, I wouldn't be surprised if we did trade down or go for a QB which could be interesting. Quote
cowboy_from_hell 2,390 Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 I'm a bit of a fan of giving it to Romo in December. It's easy to do. But I'm on his side to a degree. They shouldn't have been in the situation they were. To allow Green Bay to score off nearly every drive in the second half is ugly. When Romo put up Peyton numbers against Peyton the defense couldn't help him out. The saints made them look stupid sacking Romo plenty and putting up points at ease. Still Romo shouldn't throw all these December interceptions. It spells for the all powerful and knowledgeable know it all Mr Jones to make decisions in the off season when they probably miss the playoffs again. Quote

I have to say that the Rams are probably in the most envious position of any team come the off season. If Bradford returns fit and you do trade down and can plug some holes your Rams with a fit QB, Scary as hell pass rush and a young hungry team could be building something big. I'll trade you Christian Ponder for your first rounder pretty please. Quote
Gorgoroth 13,220 Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 Ha ha nice try CFH 6 weeks ago I would have said we need to trade for a running back, but Stacy seems to be doing a bang up job so it will be interesting to see where they think the next big hole is on our list. Quote
titan_uranus 25,255 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Amazing to think that, if Carolina beats New Orleans this week, they'll almost certainly be the number 2 seed in the NFC. You would have been offered to write your own ticket on the odds of that happening before the season. Just need my 49ers to do the job against Atlanta at home this week, and with Seattle (surely) beating Arizona in Seattle, we should be home and hosed for the playoffs. If something goes wrong this week, we don't really want to be going to Arizona in Week 17 with our playoff spot on the line. Quote

Carolina's start to year wasn't that great either but they went on a great winning streak and here they are. San Fran aren't flying under the radar but there seems to be a bit of Baltimore about them this year. San Fran haven't really hit their peak form at any time this year. Kap hasn't thrown and run for massive yards but has done the job nicely. They could beat everyone in the NFC on any given day. Atlanta shouldn't be a problem for your boys. Quote

You wouldn't have thought so, the Falcons are playing pretty miserable football. If we're going to hit a peak in 2013, it will surely be now. We've got our four linebackers starting, and we've got our receiving unit starting too (Boldin, Crabtree, Davis), so we're essentially hitting full-strength (though Bruce Miller, an important part of our offence, is out for the year). As a wild card, I'd take us at Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia or Dallas any day of the week. If we end up at Green Bay and Rodgers is back, then that might be a tough one. Macca 17,127 Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 TV games ... no game tomorrow Monday 5.00am Cleveland at NY Jets (OneHD) 5.00am Indianapolis at Kansas City (Fox3) 8.05am Arizona at Seattle (Fox3) 8.25am Pittsburgh at Green Bay (OneHD) 12.30pm Chicago at Philadelphia (OneHD & ESPN) Tuesday 12.30pm Atlanta at San Francisco (ESPN) All the week 16 games Disappointing that the Saints/Panthers game isn't on the box. The Pats/Ravens match-up is another game which would hold high interest. As some of you are no doubt aware, if Dallas win their earlier game against Washington, the Eagles might rest their starters, as their game against Chicago would have no relevance (if Dallas win, the Eagles going to 9 wins or remaining on 8 wins has the same impact because they'd still have to defeat the Cowboys in week 17 to win the NFC East) Hope that makes sense! pantaloons 2,019 Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Lol at OneHD. Of the nine 1pm games, only two feature both teams out of the playoff picture and they're playing one of them. Pittsburgh-Green Bay would be the third or fourth most interesting of the five 4pm games as well. They need to work things out with CBS a bit better, I don't know how it's organised but that's putrid. Quote

Which is why I think the Week 17 Sunday night game is sure to be Dallas-Philadelphia. As much as I'm sick of seeing NFC East teams, Dallas is near certain to beat Washington, which means their Week 17 match-up will determine the winner of the NFC East. Which may make the Bears-Eagles game this week a dud of a Sunday night game (NFL had no choice but to put it in there though, they needed to even up the split between flex games stolen from CBS and Fox, so that they had flexibility to pick any game in Week 17). I have no idea who determines what games One gets, but so many times this year we've ended up with awful offerings. As Macca said, Saints-Panthers and Patriots-Ravens are two of the biggest games of the year, let alone this week. Quote

As Macca said, Saints-Panthers and Patriots-Ravens are two of the biggest games of the year, let alone this week. The OneHD games and the cable games have been a mixed bag this year (more specifically the games outside of SNF and MNF) ... the thing that has been noticeable has been the games not covered (with some of this week's games being a good example) It's as if they have a set roster done at the start of the season but they don't factor in that certain teams improve a lot and other teams fall away completely. 2 years ago, the 49ers were rarely on OneHD or cable, even though they were on their way to the SuperBowl. I remember commenting about it on this thread. It was difficult to make an appraisal of Alex Smith because we rarely got to see him play. OneHD and Cable need to bring in their own version of "flexing" games (if that's possible) I'm also wondering why OneHD don't do a deal and get hold of the MNF games. Hopefully, all the play-off games will be covered by both OneHD and cable. As an aside, sports fans outside of OZ would probably be wondering why we have to watch our free-to-air sport in 'Standard Definition' instead of being able to watch it in 'HD' ... the footy and the cricket in particular. I've heard all the reasoning but it still doesn't add up IMO. Quote
pantaloons 2,019 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 (edited) What a disgraceful bunch of pretenders. I'll have no sympathy for us if we have to go up to New England in week 1. Edit: this game appears to have been rigged by all accounts though. A series of shameful penalties at key times. Taunting on Poe of all people on 4th down? Lol.
