Here's last year's final tally in the tipping comp ...

Final Leaderboard (2016/17)

12 - Gorgoroth

8 - cowboy_from_hell

7 - Clintosaurus,  DeeSpencer

--------------------------------

6 - JV7

4 - Macca

Gorgoroth set the high score last season although it was the first year where we had the current amount of bonus weeks.

Clintosaurus leads the current comp with 12 points (see above) so we'll probably see a new record score set.  A total of 6 points are still up for grabs

Well done mate. Chose the one I hoped for. See you again in playoffs.

You need to maintain the 1 seed to have a chance ... that has to happen.  Your likely opponents in week 2 and/or 3 could be 2 dome teams (Saints/Vikes) or a Rams team that hasn't been in the playoffs for yonks.

I wouldn't want to face the Rams again. No way. Saints probably next most feared, followed by the Vikes...

If Packers did somehow get in, I would put them just after the Rams in the most scary category.

It's gonna be an intriguing time. I think in some ways the pressure is sort of off. At least as fans. Many have given up the idea that they seriously can threaten. I've spoken to some who thought they were so far ahead they couldn't miss a superbowl... and now they're just back in the pack. Most are just hoping, but resigned to a manful defeat.

Got two good running backs, good recievers, great TE. Not all doom and gloom. Your d is good as well.

Chamce is there, but u are now back with the pack.

3 actually. Keep your eye on Clement. He's a beauty.

Yeah, I'm not saying they're out of it yet... I think it's less of a comment on the Eagles, more of a comment on what I'm seeing from opposition. Vikings D, Saints D... wowee... I don't think Eagles can say they're better than those guys. Also the whole "Eagles haven't played anyone" thing is true... they've had maybe 4 good teams. Just barely squeaked through... I reckon Rams fans will be licking their lips if they face Eagles in week 2 of playoffs.

We need to fix our secondary. We give up way too many third and long plays.

Anyone on here in the Armchair Endzone comp run through BigFooty? If not you should - costs $40 per season and there is 6 comps.

What are they? Tipping?

Yeah, most of them are based around weighted tips each week. If there is 16 games in a week then each game gets points from 16 (most confident) to 1 (least confident)

The different competitions are explained here:

That's interesting... I'd be more inclined to propose a basic PPR fantasy league here... you know.. the one I keep banging on about. Also, just keeping up with you is hard enough to concentrate on lol

I find it cosier to do it in a cultured forum like demonland. Bigfooty really is the lowest common denominator.

Obviously can't change my Broncos pick and will stick with the others.

We don't allow 'preliminary' tips Clint ... no such thing.

Ravens

Eagles

Falcons

Lions game was horrible. Horrible.

Chiefs game was decent, thought they held Bosa from causing Smith too much grief.

Nervous as hell today. If all goes well at work ill be home to start the redzone at 2pm but I reckon I'll be working back again. So will fidget through the early games then nervously pace through our game.

Go Rams!

Jags in the playoffs. Philly just got there - looked like Eli was going to pull a win out of his backside. Browns gonna Brown. Rodgers not quite.

Rams Seahawks massive implications all over the place. Rams off to a good start.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

Concerningly, average attendances in 2024 were 2,660 fans per match, with the women’s game incurring an annual loss of approximately $50 million.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
