Bills fire their OC 2 games in... If only the falcons had the balls to do that & [censored] Shanahan & his west coast offense off!

I hope we follow trend and throw Fisher in as well.

Seattle

Baltimore

Green Bay

Really wish I did the tips earlier and took the Jets. The Bills are a dumpster fire. They scored 31 and lost then sacked the offense??!

Yeah I ended up making the bonus weeks the odd numbered weeks from week 5 ... it gives a chance for people to catch up or even join in later on.  It's 1 extra bonus week over last year although it does seem more than that.

I reckon that settles the make up of the comp for now.

The Rams record within the division has been very good in recent years and they do bounce back just when you least expect it - I've a feeling you might win against Seattle but I'm not a great tipster

Your a genius macca... Congrats Gorgoroth.... Maybe those Fisher & Shanahan blokes know what their doing :P

Our D won the game as usual.

Are we the only team to be 1-1 without scoring a td at all?

Keenum was ok from what I saw but we still dont look threatening. But in saying that, Seattles D is also very good.

Fisher is still a [censored] tho... ha ha

I was stoked to see Bradford play so well. Watched the game whilsy sitting in my Bradford top :)

Your 'non' faith has been tested once again Gorgo.  Rams win and put everyone out of the running for points ... except myself who of course missed on the Packers & KC instead.

I had 1 point after the first 10 weeks last year and it looks like I'm heading down a similar path ... the hardest comp in the Southern hemisphere continues to baffle and bewilder.  Even at this early stage I'm aiming for bronze.

I have faith that we are at least one quarter closer to scoring a TD.

If I was a betting man I would bet our D will score one first...

Your packers looked off the boil today, what are your thoughts on the game?

Well I tipped the Vikes to win the division ... as good as Rodgers is, we're a bit too predictable.  We're one of those teams where if it goes well, we're very good and sometimes great - but if we're off, we're very beatable.

Today was one of those days although Minnesota's D was very good.  Our schedule isn't too tough though so we should be thereabouts for a playoff berth.

Some other observations ...

  • Atlanta back on track?
  • Bad loss for Detroit
  • Colts are now 0 & 2
  • The Pats are 2 & 0 without Brady
  • The Ravens look likely and are now 2 & 0 as well ... same for Pittsburgh & Denver
  • Washington in trouble already after winning the division last season
  • The Browns, Saints, Dolphins, Jags & Bills are up against it
  • The Vikes have also started impressively considering Teddy is out
  • Houston & the Giants are both 2 & 0 in divisions where 9 wins might do it.
  • The Packers need to get their game going
  • The NFC West could be a tight affair - all 4 teams are 1 & 1

A big game tomorrow for the Eagles & Bears

Sadly I don't think so...

New Orleans (away) ...always hard

Panthers (home)

Broncos (away)

Seattle (away)

We'll be 1-5!

He'll probably go on an all time great run now and make me look silly but I can't help but think there's something not right about Rodgers. I thought he fixed it in Arizona last year but he still seems to be jumping around way too much in the pocket. Moving in the pocket is great, but if the line is blocking well then just step up and make an accurate throw. I don't think he's selfish in any way but it looks like he's trying to create the great play and has lost confidence in his receivers and isn't getting the ball out and trusting them. Maybe the offense needs a tweak and some new plays mixed in to freshen things up.

I'm super impressed with Stefon Diggs. He'll make Bradford look good all year. And if the Vikes O line can click in to gear and run the ball then they'll be a force.

The Texans have impressed me and now get the luxury of the Pats playing an injured player/3rd stringer or guy off the street at QB on a short week. They should go up there and win and get to 3-0.

Panthers still looking like the team to beat in the NFC. Nice to see the Cards bounce back. Some other teams I'm a bit up and down on including the Giants, Seattle, GB and the Vikes.

Steelers looking the class of the AFC, with the Pats always in the equation and I expect the Texans, Denver, KC and Cinci to challenge in a strong conference.

Without Nelson last year the passing game was a little inconsistent and lacked flow ... with Nelson back, it's going to take a bit of time to get everything in sync again.  I'm more concerned with the complimentary running game and our overall defense.

McCarthy's style is to trust in plan A and if it doesn't work, he doesn't really change things up.  Some teams have figured out how to counteract Rodgers and our passing game - not always but when it does happen, it's enough to render the team back to the 'average' category - it happened again today.  But credit to the Vikes defense - they were good.

We can be great, good, below average and sometimes poor.  But there's a whole stack of teams that are never great and a number that are never any good.  We're lucky that the Lions & Bears can't seem to get their act together.  Detroit losing at home to the Titans today is a body blow for them and if your blokes lose tomorrow, they'll be 0 & 2 and staring down the barrel.

There's only a few really good teams and most of them are in the AFC.  A number of other teams are like the Packers - the advantage that Green Bay have is that at our best we can beat any team.  That's related to Rodgers of course.

As for a smoky or 3 to watch out for, I would say the Giants, Ravens, Vikings & I reckon the Texans could have a big year.  Not sure of the extent of AP's knee injury, but the Vikes will miss him for any time that he might be out for.

But it's early doors and a lot can change in any given week.

Ravens came back well but the Browns had them at 20-2 and should have sealed the game numerous times.

AP will be a huge loss for Vikes. Their opponents will now go from stacking the box to playing more a passing D. That will hurt both Bradford and Diggs.

Could not believe how good bradford was. He took some hits though and if that continues we are screwed. Losing AP doesn't faze me that much as he can't rush out of the shotgun and our O line is horrible anyway. To be honest our offense has moved away from AP and is more a pass happy style.

Packers will be fine once Rodgers and Co. Get settled. The secondary is the big problem and injuries aren't helping but 4 games at home and a bye will suit them fine.

In the last 5 games Cleveland will have started 5 different QB's. McCown is injured.

Screw you Seattle.

I listened to a lot of our game and the noise factor was through the roof (no pun intended)  It could be a real advantage going forward as Minnesota's version of the 12th man.  Rodgers and his receivers had a real off day but we seemed quite flustered, all the same.

The Bradford trade was the right move and I thought that at the time ... the time to win should always be right now unless a team is in total rebuild.

Heard that AP has a torn meniscus but that doesn't mean he won't return soon ... depending on how bad it is they'll have to make a decision on an operation or not.  Some get back quite quickly and other times it can be at least 4 to 6.

Whilst I'm here, no one picked up any points in the comp this week.  Only 1 point on offer for the next 2 weeks but any point is invaluable - here's the points tally ...

Another tough week of tipping coming up

Edited by JV7

Cardinals

Raiders

Steelers

Just can't bring myself to tip against New Egland @ Foxborough

Edited by JV7

Steelers

Ravens

Arizona

Pittsburgh

Arizona

Oakland

Houston
Arizona
Pittsburgh

Will likely regret tipping against the Pats at home on a short week but seriously a 3rd string rookie QB against a good defense. At least I'll see the wizardry of Belichick once again. Couldn't bring myself to tip anyone else, Atlanta and San Diego the best I could think of and they aren't very good.

Those Patriots know how to get it done regardless who is out there... 27-0 is massive... Imagine what they'll do with Brady running the show :(

Terrible showing by the Texans. Everything they could stuff up they managed to do it.

Houston go in as slight favourites and fail to score at all.

A week is a long time in this sport but not for the Patriots & Bill Belichick - they're just always good.  I'm just glad they're in the AFC and not in the NFC.

  • PREVIEW: Geelong

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
