Them Panthers are seriously good... Well that's us done for the season, least I won't have to worry about how to watch the Falcons in the playoffs while I'm away on holidays...

Yep, it's disappointing for the Falcons but the Chargers, Saints, Giants, Bears & Detroit have all got decent QB's and they may all miss out on the playoffs ... then there's Kaepernick at the 49ers who isn't even playing at all.

Ryan is probably another QB who needs a very good team around him ... the Packers passing game which was previously a real strength is just average now - Rodgers can't find open receivers so we've had to concentrate on our running game and defense (which can't be relied upon, by the way)

We'll need everything to go right to really contend and even that may not be enough considering how well the Panthers, Seattle and Arizona are playing.

A number of us picked up a point in the tipping comp this week and we have a new outright leader ... remembering that next week (week 15) is our 2nd last bonus point week (2 points) Week 16 is for 1 point and week 17 is for 3 points.

Rams winning was great and bad. Great we won, bad fisher didn't get fired ?

Seems the government in St. Louis are putting in more money to try and keep them, I really hope we stay.

panthers are seriously good, who beats them?

ive never seen Brady cop so many hits in a game as he has this year.

Week 15 games (2 points)

As an added bonus we've got a couple of Saturday night games (this week and next week) ... Jets @ Dallas this week.

As usual, finding 3 road winners will be tricky but this time of year there's sure to be a banker or 2 (maybe )

note; scroll up a couple for the leaderboard.

Winton is such a sook, never seen it before, but what a flög.

The abuse he gave the special teams after the big return after their TD.

If I was on the special teams I would have asked him how many passes he had made.

that idiot receiver who threw the ball away after getting within 4 inches of the line... Wow, just wow.

I was disappointed we tried to waste the clock and gave them so many plays, I think we still should have kept the pressure up on them as we had all night.

Winston got easy yards in the last quarter.

I saw the first half and Winston was struggling... Donald and the Rams pass rush were all over him.   He just kept handing off to Martin. But yeah his stats turned out ok but he picked up a lot of junk time yards

Don't forget there's a game on tomorrow at 12.30pm (Jets @ Dallas) ... unfortunately only on cable but the game holds great interest because of the wild-card race in the AFC.

I wasn't prepared to tip the Jets but they can win and if they do they might start getting talked about as a genuine playoff contender.

Unbelievabley the Falcons if we somehow beat the panthers & saints in the last 2 weeks and Seattle drop both games to st.louis & Arizona and Vikes drop both games to giants & packers the Falcons somehow clinch the playoff spot with a 3 way tie.. Wishful thinking :P

Also we all pick winners this week ? We've been on lately

Yep JV7, 2 points to the top 5 in the comp this week

Leaderboard (notables only)

10 - Gorgoroth

9 - cowboy_from_ hell, JV7, Georgiou R.R. Martin

7 - Macca

Some observations ...

  • The Jets just won't go away and we might have an 11-5 team miss out on the playoffs in the AFC (or at least a 10-6 team)
  • The Colts might miss out completely
  • Arizona are a good team and could win it all
  • The jockeying for seedings in the NFC is on - certain match-ups aren't ideal for certain teams.
  • The loser of next weeks Cinci & Denver game could well end up with some unwanted pressure
  • The Giants will be kicking themselves if they miss out - so many winnable games that they've lost.
  • The Panthers are still on track for a perfect season
  • The Vikes win easily and that week 17 game at Lambeau will almost certainly be "live" for both teams .. the Seahawks can only get a wild card now (which is theirs for the taking)
  • As JV7 mentioned, the Falcons can still make it
  • Washington's destiny is in their own hands and they can't be counted out from at least winning 1 playoff game (their 1st playoff game would be at their home field)
  • KC & the Steelers keep winning and winning well (the wild-card weekend could see both wild-card teams win in the AFC)

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
