(And I swear I read earlier that someone thinks he is soft and not a good defender?? Madness.)

What was Leigh Matthews doing on here? Was he confused with Trav or stung by that trade? Seriously, soft????!!!!

This guy is star and will be a super star!

Paraphrasing. And incorrectly it seems.

I was referring to the garbage in the OP.

It's still garbage nonetheless.

If we both stick to what we do best, I'll only ever work in fashion and you'll only ever make an arse of yourself... and what would be the fun in that?

If you work in fashion, how about assisting the club in making some decent Demon gear?? What they put out is crud.

Been there, done that.

No one can question Jack Grimes' endeavour, it is right up their with Moloney's (probably greater). 70% of the time Grimes' disposal is top shelf, producing fantastic bullet-like kicks that are a joy to watch. It's the other 30% where his disposal comes undone. At times it is deplorable and costly turnovers result, given he's usually in the backline trying to set up the play going forward. It is this 30% that makes him seem slow and he is also unaccountable at times, but then he wouldn't be a Melbourne player if he wasn't. Let's not forget that it's only his 25th game or so, improvement is inevitable at such an early stage. Hopefully with this, he will raise his quality of disposal up to 90%. His turnovers will always be highlighted, as he is the one creating the play.

As for him becoming captain, he's still way too young. I've been a massive critic of Junior in previous seasons, but if he wants to continue on next season, he still deserves the captaincy. If not, give it to Moloney for a year or 2, then we will see how good Grimes goes.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
