Hughes to debut

I thought Hughes did alright for his first, in trying conditions. Could this effort seal the fate of Miller?

Miller will need 3 BOGs at Casey to get a game. I`d rather Danny to be honest

But missed the easy one in the first.

Played well though. Presented nicely, has great hands. In the wet last night he was useless below his knees but hopefully next week it'll be dry and we'll get a more accurate assessment. But no reason to drop him based on last night's effort.

Yeah 50m out with a wet ball and your first kick in AFL is an easy kick... Can't think of a time when he was useless below his knees either.

Let's not forget his first game he lined up on an all australian in Brian Lake and he did pretty well, also in the last quarter i think he did really well.

He's just about had 2 now.

I'd still prefer Danny. Millsey has had his chances, now it's Danny's turn. He's certainly earned a decent go after all he's been through.

He's just about had 2 now.

I would not be surprised to see the Miller in by the time we play the Wobbly Woods.

He's just about had 2 now.

Was very very far from BOG on saturday.. still drops marks when he is 20m in the clear. Still just plodding a long and will on play if every one else falls over.

Not the only one who noticed that Danny was getting the Huuuuuuuuughes chant! Looking forwards to saying it a lot next week.

thought danny was alot better thsn most posted already

I agree.

As Jaded pointed out, he had a fair few marks and I thought that reflected his effort.

He kept presenting and also did some good work when the ball was in his area.

Yeah to add to that he took a team high 6 marks.

If you look at the stats Johnson had 0. Jamar i think may have had 1 and a few others 1 or 2 that usual take more... sorry don't have the stats in front of me!

Danny's game was better than anything Miller and Newton have offered up in the last 12 months.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
