Laughing Stock!!

No wonder the whole AFL community sees that the MFC is the laughing stock of the AFL.

I'm sick of hearing other supporters verbal bashing the MFC

If we had put in at least half decent effort yesterday people would have at least said yes we are on the right track.

How much longer before we start too see something??????

Exactly 3.4 years.

I'm going to wait until end of April before I make judgement on this side. Round 1 was a real eye opener for the team & a good lesson. Let's see what changes occur in the team, playing style & confidence in the next 3-4 weeks - all at the G.

I'd be disappointed if we have not improved on a competitive level.

What makes me sad is when opposition supporters clap us when we get a goal. It really was sad.

there are so many holes i dont know where to start

That was very embarrasing...

Footy is a highly linked game. Once a team falls below a certain 'critical' level of abilty, skill and experience the whole performance unravels. That's what we've witnessed for the last 3 years. About half the side that played round 1 are not up to AFL standard. As they get replaced we will gradually start to improve. Sorry to say it, it's going to take 3 or 4 years. By, the way, Brad Green is our best footballer by a mile!

If you are correct, and it takes 3-4 years before we start to see improvement, then we are the most pathetic club in the history of the game.

I mean honestly, does it take 7-8 years of coming last before you can show improvement?

There is one thing I honestly don't understand.

I'd argue that 3 years ago we had an inferior list than what we have today. We've got much more talent into the club and some rediculusly high draft picks.

We've also had 3 years of skills training, physical conditioning and strategy/game plan training by a well-paid coaching staff.

How is it that we haven't improved from 3 years ago.

Honestly beggers belief!

I have been supporting the demons for over 40 years. Despite all the suggestions of better times ahead....we are nearing 50 years without a premiership. Be patient they say, but half a century without the ultimate success is an indictment on this once proud club.

The Bulldogs have made some good decisions over the last ten years to achieve their current position of being a realistic challenger for a flag. The demons on the other hand appear to be floundering. Stynes is as committed a President you could have, but he is only one man. Our troubles are deeply rooted in poor list managment, financial constraints and last but not least, having a coach who is a great "suit", but not motivator of men, nor a good game-day tactician.

People say don't blame the coach...he is only as good as the cattle on the park. If a company is not doing well the CEO is often the first person put under pressure. Bailey's win/loss record is appauling and we reward him with a one year extension - because we are rebuilding and he handles the media??. He is now associated with a losing culture at the club and this is a cancer that needs to be addressed. We are already hearing in the media that the players do not understand his game plan....does anyone?

For f***sake, MFC needs to move Bailey on and get a guy at the helm that has some passion and a track record of success and motivating footballers. We do not need a spin doctor who can give good presentations and front the media with yet another speal about being patient.

The sad reality is we are revisiting the dark days of the 1970's and we are now the whipping boys of an expanding league. Enough is enough....MFC needs to think hard about its future and make some decent decisions, starting with the coach. I would like my children and their children to talk about their club with pride and not simply wish for better times that never seem to come.
