Hellish injury start for Melbourne Demons

Not a bad article even if an edit is in order. It nailed the main points: The backs are good, the mids are getting better but the forwards are going to struggle unless the ball is constantly down there.

Yeah mostly reasonable but their best 22 has no small defender - substitute Bennell for Garland at BP.

Dunn for Morton (inj) on one wing, Garland for Jurrah (inj) at FF (which he was never going to hold down) and slot Petterd for Bennell's bench spot and you're about there.

Does anyone know how we rank in terms of goals-inside 50 ratio?

I remember hearing last year that we were up there. If our midfield improves the way we think it will and if Garland can make the transition from back to forward (if that's what Bailey intends) then perhaps all is not lost

Does anyone know how we rank in terms of goals-inside 50 ratio?

2009 - In terms of goals scored based on inside 50 entries - 25.2% of the time. We ranked 15th overall. North Melbourne were ranked lowest at 16th.

He talks about how desperate the situation is to have blokes out there who can get some goals, then he puts Petterd, who has kicked 4 the last 2 weeks, in the emergencies... also left out Jones who would be automatic selection every week

There goes that theory

I'm as surprised as you about that. I remember a few games last year where we'd get it in like 6 times a quarter and score on every occasion.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
