Confidence

I was like the rest of you melbourne faithful, sitting at home sorta hoping for some signs of a long (apparently hard) preseason to shine through. But i was left waiting.....

This loss is bigger then just any NAB cup game, we needed the confidence only winning a game can bring. We need the confidence so we can mark the ball, so we can execute a pass, so we can run off our man and switch the play... confidence is massive in this game and I cant see where we can get confidence from. And without this confidence, we wont be winners at all this year.

We gathered confidence from new young blood into the team, and managed to walk into tonights game with a hope, but now after that loss we are back where we were in the middle of last year, chins at our knees and just turning up each week to get slaughtered. And to make it better we have hawks round one who I think are the real deal again this year. They will do to us what they did to richmond and execute any last bit of confidence our players have.

We are in for a long year melbourne fans, this aint getting any better.

you know what?

Reality is it will get better.

It just aint gonna happen overnight like we all would love.

Gee it hurts to lose no matter what...

But stick with it...we are on the right path...

yep that's a sickening thought, when they violated us in r1 2008 we spent the rest of the season like a shattered mess trying to recover from it, and it's going to happen again. Thank God Buddy isn't going to be there or he would kick 20

Tho disappointing,I for one aint worried (yet)

We had 4+ that played that are not ready.

Had some of our experienced guys way down

Had to travel to Perth, with a young side.

Bailey has thrown just about everyone he could

to all parts of the ground. (last year)

This year I see as a bonding year, and get them

used to playing together, hopefully in the best

positions.

We had 1/2 dozen experienced players unavailable

I'll wait til mid year before writing them off.

If they are still crap in 2112....

lets not go there.

I dont barrack for collingwood. I'm not about

to start bagging the MFC and all involved.

I'm hanging in there.

Speaking of confidence, did Danny Bell play?

It’s Game Day, and the Demons return to the MCG wounded, undermanned and desperate. Still searching for their first win of the season, Melbourne faces a daunting task against the Fremantle Dockers. With key pillars missing at both ends of the ground, the Dees must find a way to rise above the adversity and ignite their season before it slips way beyond reach. Will today be the spark that turns it all around, or are we staring down the barrel of a 0–6 start?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

A month is a long time in AFL football. The proof of this is in the current state of the two teams contesting against each other early this Saturday afternoon at the MCG. It’s hard to fathom that when Melbourne and Fremantle kicked off the 2025 season, the former looked like being a major player in this year’s competition after it came close to beating one of the favourites in the GWS Giants while the latter was smashed by Geelong to the tune of 78 points and looked like rubbish. Fast forward to today and the Demons are low on confidence and appear panic stricken as their winless streak heads towards an even half dozen and pressure mounts on the coach and team leadership.  Meanwhile, the Dockers have recovered their composure and now sit in the top eight. They are definitely on the up and up and look most likely winners this weekend against a team which they have recently dominated and which struggles to find enough passages to the goals to trouble the scorers. And with that, Fremantle will head to the MCG, feeling very good about itself after demolishing Richmond in the Barossa Valley with Josh Treacy coming off a six goal haul and facing up to a Melbourne defence already without Jake Lever and a shaky Steven May needing to pass a fitness test just to make it onto the field of play.
