we can never get enough players, umpires and helpers for these inter-forum games, so please post on here and I will update this game thread from time to time...

they tell me hundreds of collingwood supporters turn up for these games, so I hope we can mobilise lots of supporters from here and demonology...

If you let me know roughly how many games will be held I'll try and recruit another goal umpire.

BTW - Do you need field umpires as well?

hey, brett...

I am getting too old (or I answered your post before you edited it)...

the forum footy organisers from all clubs are waiting on responses from the field umpires who have helped us out in the past...

I will certainly get back to you...

but there are lots of games, so I would be delighted if you could sound out any possibles for us...

also, nobody would expect you to do all 3 of our games, so we can help out if you can't get another goal umpy to give you a break...

post on here and I will get back to you ASAP...

Yeah you did answer it before in another thread, sorry. I just thought your new thread post suggested that you may be looking again.

I'll do my best, shouldn't be too hard within an umpiring organisation! Might see if I can recruit some boundary umpires.

thanks, mate...

First game I'll have played in fifteen years. Good god.

great work, brett...

sign up the boundary umpys asap and let me know...

will get back to you about the field umpy situation asap, but it requires contact with the other forums (which takes time)...

thanks again...

hey, mercado...

nobody has died on us yet...

you have some weeks to get in shape...

alternatively, you could continue the way you are, and still play and star, like others in previous seasons, such as pringle's brother, BL2381 (retired, exhausted) and Deanox (social and occasional rugby player who surprised everyone including himself with a fistful of goals and lethal tackles)...

it does not do to under-rate the opposition, but we should not over-rate them either...

diclaimer : I have helped to organise all past games, but have never played in them...

Im Fat, but a decent fat player, if you get my drift!! lol

i look like a white Derek Kickett, but move and play like a chris Judd they should call me Derek Judd!! lol

Im Pumped!!!

good timing... in the middle of yr 12 exams. But might come down, always need a break.

It's on!!!

Can't say how pleased I am to have the Pies on board. Would love to cream those @#$% ^())_^#@ ^#())^# % &(&^$#nts.

Blues will be looking to lift their game and avenge last season's close defeat at Gosch's followed by a solid beating in the return bout. Will be interesting to see if their scrawny youngster who went unmarked and kicked a couple of crucial sausage rolls to get them back into the game last year has bulked up over the pre-season.

Saints... well, after a close early encounter a couple of years ago, they have become our whipping boy.

Going on past form, we should take home the cup in a traditional Melbourne-Collingwood final.

My major concern... having to cool down and warm up again more than once in a day. I'm in pretty good shape from a cardiovascular point of view, but I think even Nathan Buckley has better hammies than me.

Very interested to hear some of our new recruits talk themselves up (or down  ). Makes for fun reading. And of course I'm looking forward to the 1 or 2 posters from each site who will inevitably make their way here to stir up some banter. The Saints and Blues actually had decent organizers who only taunted in fun... I dare say the Pies may have a few more interesting characters visiting here to vent their incoherent dribble.

I'm going to do my very best to get BL2381 to come out of retirement (ala Tony "Plugger" Lockett). He may just be rejuvenated after having his first child 18 months ago (though possibly a few kg's heavier still than his last outing a while back). His missus may have something to say about it, but whatever size he is, mark my words, he's a very good player.

I also heard from my dad that he nearly lost a lung Tuesday night after trying to do a gym class for the first time in many years... Freak may have him covered in the beep test methinks

just had a response from my only filth mate, pringle...

and he says you do not appear to be a very nice fellow...

he also says the pies will put up a good performance, as long as the majority of their players can get day passes...

(I agreed with him, you are not nice, and told him to target your hammies - he replied that even the collingwood inmates do not target children (??!!)...

Jeff Gieschen eat your heart out.

2 x Field (I understand they may not be needed)

3 x Boundary

2 x Goal

More to come.

Would love to be there, but off o/s in 2 weeks.

Go demons.

Count me in, happy to make up the numbers and play a pinch hitting role off the bench up forward or in defence.

Cheers.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
